The room was cute, had a small kitchen, and the building was very old and interesting. The location was nice and safe. We parked our car in the driveway of the hotel off street for free. The hotel is near some pretty parks and is only about a 25 minute bicycle ride into the main part of the city. There is also a safeway store a couple blocks from the hotel. Value for the money and more than just continental breakfast. Staff were always ensuring if you wanted something for breakfast they did not have they had for you the next day.
所有评语 » Friendly staff, location to where we needed to go, breakfasts were excellent, the house was venerable (1900),the grounds beautiful, some amenities close by. Vancouver is expensive, but at the Balfour you have a very friendly staff and get excellent value for your money. Clean, with warm breakfast, good location, friendly staff, lovely house... Location, setting, fan in room, friendly, helpful staff. The staff . The garden. Wonderful place!. Location Staff. When the lady in charge got to know us she was friendly. Transport to the city was good. Clean and comfy. Enjoyed staying here. House is beautiful with nice staff. The room I was in was very clean. The location was beautiful. The inn was very close to local transportation, although it was 20 minutes from downtown. The neighborhood around the inn was full of beautiful homes and a nice walking neighborhood. Due to an incident on the train ride to Vancouver, we didn't arrive at the inn until 2:00 am. The staff was very understanding in spite of our having to wake them. Nothing. The breakfast wasn't my cup of tea. We ate at the hotel only one morning out of the three because it wasn't very good the first day. They also didn't ask us anything about our diets or explain anything. They just started bringing random food out. The room had dressers and two tiny door hooks but no closets for hangers which our clothes were on; the bed was hard & a bit lumpy, no coffee-maker (or TV which is par for B&B); the ad said on-site parking but we were asked to park on the street. No remote for tv. Breakfasts came from frozen section of local Safeway (terrible food), no owners on site. No signage for the Inn on the property No TV or radio. There was no-one home when we arrived. When someone came, they didn't identify themselves as staff and we were confused. The floor and cupboards in the visitors' kitchenette were sticky. Didn't get much information from staff on check in. No common area for guests to hang out. The place is very old and smells musty. It would be likely to have mold in it. Staff was friendly but distant as the English skills were limited. The breakfast was terrible. No preserves for the soggy croissant. The bacon was cold. Eggs should have been served with the bacon. No choice was offered. The bathtub was not properly scrubbed. The inn could use a lot of work to bring it up to its former condition. Compared to the other homes in the neighborhood, the inn was one in the poorest condition. Food was acceptable but not exceptional. It was damp ,smelt ,terrible room the first night in a damp basement ,which we refused so were given another room but had to have a shared bathroom.
