  Not being to Portland for a number of years we decided on an overnight stay - chose Bentinck - excellent position, room/facilities tastefully decorated, amazed at being an old hotel did not smell of stale beer or smoke. No noises a comfortable peaceful night was had by both. Unfortunately the vibration and noise from the bar below made it impossible to sleep until 1.00 If you had a function on yourself and wouldn't be needing sleep until 1.00 its perfect.
