  We came as a group and booked both the "mansion" and the "coach house". Both were amazing - old houses on whose land I guess the other motel-like units were built. Overlooking the river and with lawns all round, a barbeque down by the river. Sure the houses were old, but still in good repair.   The Welcome Stranger Hotel is an old style, great value place to stay in Hobart, and it has Wi-Fi. It is an easy walk to Salamanca and CBD. You can sit in a sunny position by a large window, watching the people and cars go by, while eating breakfast. The rooms have an ensuite and the beds are comfortable. - The staff at the Welcome Stranger are terrific. They are extremely helpful and very welcoming. We travelled with a 16 month old and found that our room was well setup to accomodate not only the adults but the baby as well. The food was extremely good value for money and delicious to boot. It is also conveniently locate close to all attractions within Hobart.
