In the centre of historic Bideford, next to the town centre, the historical, Grade II listed Tantons Hotels sits on the riverfront, opposite the ancient stone bridge.
Tantons is a modern hotel that has kept its 18th-century features and charms, including oak beams and bay sash windows. Free Wi-Fi is available in Reception.
As Tantons is on the waterfront, many of the en suite bedrooms have fantastic estuary views.
The hotel has a cosy and comfortable bar, and a newly refurbished restaurant that offers many tasty dishes made with mostly fresh, locally sourced produce.
Tanton's Hotel is well located for exploring the area's coastline, moorland and hills.
There is no car park, but Tanton's offers free parking adjacent to the hotel between 16:00 and 09:00.

We had a super room overlooking the river, the room was very comftable with arm chairs, tea/coffe making facilities, super large bed.The web site did not do this hotel justification we thought it was very good value for money and the evening meal we had was superb, would recommend this hotel to anyone. as above plus great staff, very helpful.Comfort and pleasantness of staff. все обзоры »

Tanton's is very well situated. Friendly staff and I could see thatimprovements were taking place.friendly welcome comfortable room. friendly staff. Prime location, friendly staff, no check out delays. Friendly staff and location.Newly refurbished room. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Excellent room and late bar. Friendliness of staff and quality of food. The centralness of the hotel. friendliness of staff. The convenient location. Cheap and convenient. Staff were as helpful as possible, and it would be value for money in the summer.Central location in a quiet area with beautiful views. Staff were freindly, location and view excellent. convenience price excellent view. The view, location. friendly staff. clenliness of room. Convenience. It was in a convenient location for our needs. It suited our budget. The bedding was clean and fresh. For these reasons it was value for money.Friendliness of staff. Proximity to town centre. The hotel staff were very polite and helpful.Very handy for the town center. Nothing we checked out immediately because of the terrible condition ofit. It was filthy!!!. The bedding was clean and comfortable. nice view of the river, but window small. No tea without caffeine, and no fruit first morning without citric acid.Very noisy main road with lots of traffic from 5.00am. the english fried breakfast. No. The bed was a little uncomfortable, the bathroom was extremely small. We could not use the bath because the water was full of rubbish and brown. The shower and hand basin was OK after running the water. We reported this to the hotel. no parking!!!. decoration of the room was a little bit shoddy ie;- the wallpapering and painting. There could have been better attention paid to general clean up in thelobby area and stairs. The lack of parking. no parking, no room service. We were in Bideford on a very cold night in January, and the room was cold, even though we had an electric fire as well as the central heating. Looked shabby and was old fashioned inside. In our room the en-suite was almost unusable, however I know that another room had better. room was a bit shabby + quite small. Not very friendly, poor choice of morning beverage and small breakfast. It was also a labyrinth. no hotel parking. size of the room very cramped no comfy chair to sit on. no parking. Service and quality of food in restaurant. Refurbishment is desperately needed upstairs eg. grotty carpets, out-dated lino, dull pictures on walls. Beds were on a slope which was disconcerting when trying to sleep. No hot water late at night or early in morning. Night porter very unhelpful about this. No shampoo in bathroom. Breakfast selection was very basic eg. no yoghurt, no fresh fruit. Freezing room during day. Food. Toilet in room was broken, sink, tiles and ceiling cracked.I felt the room was a little run down, however it was posted that they were undergoing refurbishments. I also feel that it would not take a lot to improve this, for example limescale in the bathroom could easily be removed, cobwebs dusted etc. rather basic and a bit shabby. not the cleanest of hotels and cluld do with a refurb, a little run down looking.. plus had a call to my home address asking about keys and a bar bill, when we were staying another night hence why we had not returned the keys or paid the bill etc, lack of communication amoung staff there. The room was cold when we arrived. Very smelly- smelt musty and old- had to complain after getting no sleepon first night -group that were staying there were very noisy outsidehotel till 3am then moved inside. Noisey from party going on and street noise. The room was small, dirty with smeary marks all over the shower. Therewere dirty finger marks on many items. In need of major refurbishment. Pokey room, decor depressing, basic furniture, poor lighting (wires everywhere: table lamp didn't work). Bathroom dingy, only just adequate, no proper shower. We were welcomed on arrival with the words"You needn't look at the menu, the kitchen is closed." There was no suggestion that room service was available. Poached eggs were rock hard and we had to pay extra.Terrible hotel in need of a major overhaul. Cracked tiles in thebathroom, broken toilet, plastic covers on the bed. Noisy guests, creaking fllors, poor decoration throughout - the list is endless....
