The location of the hotel is perfect, it is right on the piazza of the village and literally by the lake. We stayed in the junior suite and the view was amazing. The room was very spacious and had a great bathroom. The staff in the reception and the restaurant are very attentive, friendly and try to be helpful whenever they can. The food in the restaurant is not the best Italian you can get in Orta, but the ingredients are fresh and the friendly staff and the view from the restaurant (that is b.

Barbara, the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Lovely room, very clean. And Lake Orta is lovely. Lovely hotel a bit quirky in layout but beautifully decorated and maintained: great rooms. Location (right next to lake, overlooking the island) is wonderful and breakfast on the terrace was a memory to be treasured (and the food was escellent as well). We didn't book a water view but the room was still very good and great fixtures and fittings even if a tiny small it was very well planned. And you could open your French doors and walk round to a huge terrace overlooking the lake with stunning views !. The Hotel is in a beautiful situation and is quite different in many ways. Delightful to stay in as it has typical Italian feel. Suitable for a quiet reading holiday and swimming in the lake. I would like to return sometime in the future. Extremely old bldg that has been very well maintained. Two sisters run, very involved, right on old town square. Lovely dining room w/outdoor Terratzza right on lake with spectacular view of island. There is a serious issue with the internet connection, but that is not the hotel's fault, as there is only a low speed connection in the village. Also, parking is difficult. You can only take your car to the hotel to drop off luggage, otherwise you have to park outside of the center, where you have to walk to for about 5 minutes. For parking in the garage you need to pay 10 Euros. Again, not the hotel's fault, the historic center is a traffic free zone, reserved to residents. In a pedestrian area so parking is not near the hotel and access on sunday to unload has to be after 8pm. While this is a family hotel which is often nice the proprietors are getting on and you can see they are tired of the whole thing so very little patience with queries and the dinner service was very slow although the waiter was very nice !. San Giulio village itself very small, limiting. Rooms opening full on lake lovely; others look onto a roof or side alley not desireable...you get what you pay for. Interesting for short visit. Pillows rather hard but this is often the case in Italy. Wifi was not free. I bought a suite and it was much higher than regular rooms ..I had tried to cancel the last night when I got there and they told me to call booker instead of them helping to call since its international.. Walls too thin! Could clearly hear what was going on in room next door. Satisfactory rooms. Charge for wi-fi. the pillows were very hard to sleep on. ssome of staff were in need of better training. We upgraded to "partial view", and didn't feel we got value for the extra amount paid. You have to pay for wifi access. Nothing to dislike. Small room. If it's friendly service you are looking for, don't come here. Run by two old ladies everthing must be "fought" for....help with luggage, heat, television, even two pairs of slippers instead of one. We were told that one pair is all you get for two people.
