English and go out of their way to help you.
Trip to Mutianyu was excellent value for money and despite being stuck in a traffic jam was a fantastic day out.
The hostel is an easy 5 min walk from the Dongsi metro station. Very easy to find. Don't be put off by comments which say it's hard to find.

The location is perfect, just 10 min walk away from Qianmen and Tiananmen Square, you can also find subway and bus quite easily around there.
The cafe bar is really nice, good place to meet friends.
Beds are pretty comfortable, I stayed in a 14 bed dorm, quite a big room, not crowded at all. The A/C works well, hot water 24 hrs, and oh! the bar opens 24 hrs as well, which is a bonus!
The price is quite reasonable in Beijing, esp at central area.

The price was super cheap, the service and amenities were far beyond the price! I was very impressed with the hotel and staff. There were several English speaking employees which was very helpful. The hotel is situated in a very nice are, within walking distance to the Square and Forbidden City. -

Staff at this accommodation is so helpful and kind. It is hard to find

Great location. The studio apartment is in a new building, and the
building is a part of a closed structure of approx. 10 buildings such as
this one. It is surrounded by a fence and there is a guard at the
entrance (nice) (It's not like it is unsafe neighborhood). Inside

in the city center, it's 10 minutes walk from mtr station
(dongimen), than it takes about 4 stops to the Tiananmen square. The

Our entire family enjoyed our stay at the Peninsula. The room was spacious, clean and thoughtfully designed. I love how the desk area is separated from the rest of the room. It allows me to do some work while the kids are watching a movie. The management really pays attention to the details which made our stay extremely comfortable. -

We stayed in Beijing at Xiao Yuan Alley Courtyard Hotel for 3 nights. It is lovely small hotel in Chinese style. It is very friendly, pleasant, comfortable and cute! Featuring charming, ultra-helpful English-speaking staff; the Xiao Yuan Alley hotel provides comfortable beds and good facilities, with a superbly located downtown hutong (Beijing alley) location, sensibly priced organized tours (if you wish) and excellent and very reasonably priced food available inside and nearby outside the hotel. And it's a very affordable place.
