Maureen is a splendid host, always give you tips of what you can do on the island and make you feel like you are at home, vey cozy place!!!. The room was good and the best of all is the comfortable bed.
It's near to the airport but not close enough to hear the planes and you have a beach at 1 block that you can swim with turtles.
Absolutely recomend this B&B and if I go again to big island I definitely return here.
This is a B&B homestay near the seaside in Hilo. Maureen is friendly and makes her guests feel right at home and the decoration in this comfortable house in a quiet part of Hilo, surrounded by rainforest trees, reminds of cottage style.
The comfort is home-like (some rooms share a bathroom, also, some rooms are accessible by stairs) and there is a good wifi connection. Breakfast is home cooked and very good.
The house is absolutely an architectural gem, and solidly built. Maureen, the host, is very friendly and helpful, and she cooks great breakfasts. Although we didn't have time to use the beach, it was only a short walk away, across the road, and great. She has many areas to relax and be private, and her decor is filled with interesting things and antiques.
The hostess was very personable and generous. I am a young solo traveler and Maureen lent me some of her own things and gave me really excellent advice on what to do and where to go. The building itself is beautiful and cozy and Maureen personally makes sure everything is to your liking. I will definitely stay here again!.
A unique experience to stay in a beautiful property and to meet a fantastic host who provides great advices and who s got the best connections to any activity in the area. Homemade. breakfast to share with other guests, always a good moment around the big table in the dining hall.
We really enjoyed staying at Maureen's b&b! Comfortabel room and common living area, delicious breakfast, relax atmosphere, very friendly host and we loved sea buiscuit (to reassure you, it's not a horse but a cat sneeking into the room)!.
This unique house is for people who like the sounds of nature (frogs),
staying in a wonderful "old fashioned", beautifully decorated,
charming house - right across the street from jungle & beaches -
interesting guests - very pleasant host.
House is charming and full of lovely antiques. Fellow guests were very interesting and staff very friendly and helpful.
The frogs are initially very noisy for the first night, but Maureen provides earplugs and I was still able to sleep.
Maureen was super nice and informative. Very engaging and wanted to make sure I knew all the best places to go and see. Breakfast was delicious and local every morning! So so good, can't wait to return!.
Friendly, flexible management, location is near town and still secluded enough to satisfy those who do not require amenities of city life. Breakfast in the morning was important to me and delicious.
10 min from Hilo airport. Maureen is such a sweetheart, she makes this b&b a home away from home. So clean and nice house. Yummy pancakes and fresh fruits for breakfast. We loved everything.
Beautiful large home, with fantastic tropical yard. Lovely screened-in front and back porch. Large comfortable bedroom. Maureen was very amenable to our schedule.
Maureen was extremely nice and helpful, the room was clean. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The location is pretty great - beach within walking distance.
Maureen went out of her way to help with our planning and we have enjoyed our stay on The Big Island more because of her advice.
She had great ideas & knowledge of the area. Her great ideas made us change our initial plans and it worked out nicely.
Mareen was really nice, gave us advice, lend us things, and made the best breakfasts I had on Big Island.
Very friendly owner who gave us lots of suggestions of activities and
where to go for dinner.
Very helpful with local knowledge
Wonderful house
Comfortable beds
Great breakfasts.
We had a great time staying at this place. Thank you Maureen, you're the best!.
1.Breakfast is excellent
2.She has very lovely Cat
3.Very good Horselady.
Recommendations by for sightseeing and meals were good.
Maureen is very kind and the house is big and cozy.
Maureen was very friendly and the house beautiful.
Value, ambience.
Maeen is really a nice person and we appreciate to discuss with her, the House is really nice, the wireless connection, the breakfast was good.
Very interesting house. Lovely comfortable rooms. Maureen's helpfulness on our planned activities and our early arrival.
Nothing.
It is hard to find anything negative about this place but for some this may be a problem: There are coqui frogs in the surrounding which make a rainforest sound in the evening. While I slept right through it, some guests may need to close the windows or use the supplied ear plugs.
Nothing that I didn't like.
I hope that she can finish the old waterways that were part of the house at the time it was built, in the early 1900s.
Nothing.
The shared bathroom.
- We were there at a time when we didn't have to share a bathroom -
but it is not a problem for us anyway.- The site advertised bikes for
use which was not the case - the host said they had tried to get that
erased from letsbookhotel.com but had not succeeded - we didn't have
time to ride bikes anyway.
I was concerned for my mother, who is > 80 and has some physical limitations. Main house is up a flight of stairs and, then, our rooms were up another flight. The home is NOT accessible for anyone who is actually handicapped.
Nothing we can come up with.
Nothing I didn't like.
It's a small negative, but there are a lot of frogs that are quite loud at night.
Bathtub didn't have a clog so we couldn't make a bath:( We're spoiled though:).
Availability of power outlets was not that great: maybe not the best
place for a business trip.
1.Birds in the evening is very noise.
The facilities were shabby and in need of repair. Maureen is in need of help to repair and maintain this old lovely home. It also has some antique items but just too much so the house appears to be cluttered.
None, everything is fine.
Doors not able to lock.
It is not possible to lock the bedroom.
Compared with other B&Bs and with the exception of one budget hotel, breakfast was limited. Lovely dining room but other than fruit there was essentially one choice per day, Quiches day 1, waffles day 2. I was surprised that no effort was made to offer anything different to our son when dietary issues precluded what was offered. Toast or a Bagel would have solved the issue. Noise from airport which is nearby - late night take offs and early arrivals.
