  We stayed in reubens court and the location is fantastic - only about five minutes from city centre, and there is a tesco express and morrisons local just up the road to buy food etc for the apartment. TV included sky movies and sky sports (the boyfriend was very happy about that) We didn' - We stayed in the riverside Merchant Exchange apartment and the location was brilliant, just a few minutes walk to all the shops, restaurants & tourist attractions. The views across the city and river were lovely and the apartment was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. We appreciated that parking, Wi-Fi and Sky HD were all included in the price. We were visiting York as two couples so staying together in an apartment was nicer than being separated in a hotel. The comfortable beds

  The building is beautiful with traditional decor and large stained glass window at the main stair case. The staff were really friendly and could not have been more helpful, providing everything from an annotated map to the city centre - without me asking for it, to menus for local restaurants. The food was delicious and I was particularly impressed that they had a vegetarian hot breakfas - A warm sincere greeting by the owners on arrival set the tone for our stay. Lovely room , well dressed and furnished.En-suite more than roomy enough and fit for purpose, which isn't always the case with guest houses we've used in the past. Location is peaceful, and in a nice area. Pleasant and friendly staff could not be more helpful, and the breakfast sets you up for the day, truly a treat!! Private parking at the back of the house (free), is a bonus. We both rate Ascot House as being as good

The bookingout time of 12 noon was realistic and breakfast between 7 and 11 wascertainly more civilised than some hotels.   Had a great stay at Burswood Guest House, the attention to detail was first class, down to dressing gowns, slippers, chocolates and real napkins (not the usual paper serviettes) The breakfast was excellent a great selection of fruit and a lovelly cooked breakfast. It was a pleasure to meet the owners, George and Maureen, they ensured we had a comfortable stay. - What a fantastic place to stay! This was a two night treat weekend at the races for my father in law and did he get a treat, as we did also! It was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was better than most top business hotels I have stayed in across Europe. The attention to detail in the bedrooms and the dining room was fantastic. George the owner is a lovely guy and the service is second to none.

  The whole trip was fantastic. We arrived late Thursday evening and there was someone there to check us in and show us to our rooms. The room was beautiful, old charm mixed with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was superb, so nice to have a hot choice of breakfast freshly cooked for you in the morning. Couldn't fault the place - can't wait to go back! - The building and room were very impressive. There was a relaxed atmosphere and I felt like I was experiencing a little bit of luxury whilst staying there. Breakfast was a delight. When we arrived we were shown round and given a complimentary cup of tea. I think u get cookies too as several people saidvthey were coming altho we never got any. But we weren't fussed and I think that this was a wonderful touch.

The hotel is close to the city centre, around a 10- 15 minute scenic walk. There are restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. Walking distance to the train if minimal, easy to manage luggage. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, it is very beautiful.
