Excellent location, room very adequate for the price, with a view of the beach and pier, breakfast is not bad (although it looks like a buffet and, confusingly, isn't) and served by good staff in great humour. The same is true of service at the desk and bar, where friendly banter is easily found. The building itself is a throwback to an earlier age, with a gloomy labyrinth of stairs and passages covered in worn old carpets, but that to me is part of the fun. todos opiniões » I booked the trip for my mother in law and her friend who are both pensioners the service they received was first class I asked for a low level room for them and they also upgraded with option of an evening meal thank you for the the lovely sevice you gave them on their visit they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel itself is very oldy worldy which we found lovely. The cleanliness was was outstanding. The food was beautiful, eggs cooked to perfection and plenty of variation on the breakfast plate. Situated perfectly and out room was above reception, so no noise from the bar at night. Overall our happiness with this hotel will see us returning soon. A very well run hotel,rooms cleaned every day and the breakfast and evening meal was lovely,all staff were very kind and helpful and made us very welcome.Location was brillent,opposite The Pier.We would return to this hotel and would recommend it to future guests. Parking is a few streets away in an NCP, as street-parking is virtually impossible around the pier area. But it gives you a little stroll and only costs £2 for 24 hours (by special arrangement) so it's not a huge problem. And the wi-fi only works downstairs, so you'll not be able to use it in your room. I used it in the TV lounge, and it was perfectly good. the only problem was the bathroom, the toilet roll holder was behind you which made it awkward when getting the paper and when the toilet was flushed the smell was awful, it was like the smell of a sewer. Very old hotel but to be fair was in the process of refurbishment. the mattress on the bed that we had was very springy and lumpy and i did not have a good nights sleep. but apart from that it was a fantastic stay. We didn't have a refurbished room, so was all a little tired. Sink in the bedroom, as opposed to the en-suite, might be a problem - it wasn't for us. The refurbished rooms look smart but not luxurious, but for the price it's good VFM. people stood right outside main entrance door smoking making it unpleasant getting in and out. The lack of an onsite car park, though this was mitigated against by the availability of a very reasonably priced public car park. unfortunately the toilets in the chaplins bar smells awful, we used the toilets on ground floor near reception they were much better. Nothing!. the steps to the dining room. you have to use them as the lift doesn't service the dining room floor. The bar area was a bit disappointing. Parking after 9pm is a nightmare. First course at breakfast not being self service. Plastic cover on mattress. It had got 3 single beds in our room instead of a double and a single. It was a long bedroom with a small window at the end,overlooking the yard. The room was very hot and stiffling we was frightened to leave the window open at night so didnt get much sleep. The shower cubicle in my room was quite small. There was no shelf in the en-suite or shower so toiletries had to be placed on the closed lid of the toilet. Nothing!. hard to get parked near-by , used multi-story car park , so not too bad though. I couldn't fault anything. A bit dated but the only thing I didn't like was having the wash basin in the room as there was no room in bathroom, but not a great inconvienience. no negative comments to make. Aimed at the coach trade, dinner only served between 6-7. Plenty of other places to eat nearby. black pudding!! :-). Breakfast part: holiday maker could get his juice and cereals by himself as staff is very busy to take warm breakfast from clients....MENU could be described better. The area of the shower was a little on the small side. Internet does not work. nothing. Nothing I can fault. nothing. nothing. nothing / everything fine. The cooked breakfast was poor in terms of quality. I didnt like that there was no restaurant to have your evening meals. I think when you have breakfast be nice to have more than one sausage. Breakfast wasent all that. Plastic cover on mattress squeaked as you lay on the sheet and moved about in bed. Room was so warm I had to sleep with windows open for ventilation and was subsequently awoken at 3.15am by drunken louts in street outside squawbling. Town centre so parking at a premium. Maybe bar could be more appetising and entertainment a little dated but only a min point. Bit tight in places. Lift right by bar. Outside needs a lick of paint. nothing.
