I loved the look of the building , Colin the guy on reception was really friendly , told me the history of the house . Food was hot and very filling . The price t, the views from the window . Very relaxing . All the staff very welcoming noting was too much . Best nights sleep in months . I text my friends and I'm already looking at returning later in the year . The hotel is in the middle of refurb , little bit of chipped paint but overall I lloved it .Not stopped telling folk about it. I had B&.
todos opiniões » It was in an excellent location for our needs, we had a friends wedding to attend in maryport. The staff were all vey friendly and helpful.The tea making facilities in the room with biscuits was good, and the room was lovely and warm. overall, it was a lovely old country house, and we would definetly stay there again. The hotel has original features going back quite some time, lots to do with shipping. A real find if anyone is into history. Staff friendly and extremely helpful, food good,scenery fabulous, very relaxing. A lovely place. will stay again if in that area. Location was ideal for our business trip but equally good if we were just visiting the Lake District. The decor was fresh and in keeping and much appreciated. Staff were very friendly and efficient and we would stay there again. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was of a high standard with a good varierty. Would most definitely stay again in the future. The value for money + excellent breakfast very helpfull + friendly staff,architecture and charm of the old building. breakfast good and served piping hot. hotel tidy and clean. Ellenbank hotel is a beautiful building, the main building itself is stunning the annex, functional. However, I think it is in desperate need of some tlc and modernisation, it was shabby and not in a chic way. The staff were friendly and helpful when available! However on the second night at 9:45pm no staff were present, no one responded to the reception bell, which made us feel alone and vulnerable in case of emergency. I understand was due to the low occupancy, but that made us feel unimporta. The friendly staff and the ambience of the old building. Staff were great. Breakfast was fab. Breakfast and location. The chinese bed covers didn't really go with the overall look . I would recommend plain white . Very clean and warm tho. Our mattress on the bed was very lumpy, and the shower fell off the wall quite easily and it would have benefited from an extra shelf in the bathroom to put our toiletries on, and also the light over the mirrors in the bathroom and bedroom didnt work. Decor needs renewing but not so much as to detract from the age of the place, just replacing, like with like. No literature available or card to take to refer to again. Conversation overheard was 'If the owners are not concerned why should the staff be?' which was rather suprising to say the least and what was being referred to was not known but this sort of talk should not be within the hearing of any visitors. Could not fault the hotel at all. bedroom facilities basic,no bedside locker on one side and other side had locker but lead on light was too short to have beside bed. no lift to bedrooms not suitable for disabled people who find it difficult to walk & climb stairs. tired facilities. TV no good. Old tv. Billiard room not open. The restaurant /bar closed ridiculously early on the second night (9pm) I was informed this was due to lack of patrons, we were only one of two rooms occupied The Games room was closed, on asking if it were accessible to guests I was informed that it was now used as storage! Wifi was unavailable as far as I could tell, I never found an available network which would be helpful but not necessary and could easily be made available in the whole hotel. No bedside table. Bathroom was dated and missing handle in bath. Bed was too hard. Bulbs missing, lamp bit dodgy to scared to touch in case it fell apart. Felt like it could do with some care. Well the fact that we was told on arrival that the late key was for after 11pm and when we got back at 10.15 pm the hole hotel was totally shut down and the key did not open the main door and the fact that there was no one there at all was a joke what if there was a fire or anythink there should always be a member of staff on site in a hotel of this size .
