  The location was great, just a stones throw from shops, theatre/bars/restaurants, Princes Street and other attractions. The staff very helpful (especially the doorman-William), the rooms were very well equiped, clean and tidy and escaped out onto a rooftop expance that gave great views out over Edinburgh. We were given a rooftop garden room which affords great views over Calton Hill and towards the sea. The beds are very luxurious. The hotel is near all the main shopping and attractions. The honesty bar is great and reflects well on the hotel. Breakfast was right out of the top drawer. 1st class break.

  The staff were very polite and informative. The hotel is petite and cosy. The rooms are amazing with some great touches and are great to relax in if travelling on business or leisure. The location is brilliant. Ideally placed for us, as we were attending the March & Rally for Scottish Independence on Calton Hill that weekend.   The decor was great in the hotel. Was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. It felt tremendously homely and the bed was so comfortable. Went for the weekend ghost hunting and the hotel added to the ambience. The bath had jets in it and since Edinburgh is so hilly sorted out our weary legs. Would definately go again and recommend. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was great. Breakfast choice was varied and of a high standard and the hotel itself is a wonderful Georgian building. Some of the reviews I had read portrayed the hotel badly, I would say totally ignore this - it is a great hotel.

  This hotel has impressed me: 1st, the host (Marion) makes you feel at home and gives you useful instructions and tips. Then, the room was spacious, confortable and clean. Plenty of details (plug adapter, kettler & cookies, sewing kit, hair dryer, cottons, body cream, ipod player ...). I will definately come back. - When we arrived the introduction/explanation of services etc was good with clear, simple explanation of what to do and where things were. The 'owners' were very welcoming. Brown's was very clean; there was good provision of every day items, teas, coffees and toiletries. Breakfast was also good with a good range of items. No critique at all.
