Centrally situated, in a quiet conservation area in the heart of Harrogate, the hotel has a peaceful, relaxing setting in mature gardens and lawns with a private, floodlit car park. Built in the mid-nineteenth century, the Ruskin is now an exclusive, family-run property with an enviable reputation for the exceptional quality of its accommodation. Each en suite room has its own individual character and enjoys pleasant views over the gardens. Spacious, with high ceilings and large bay windows, all of the rooms are beautifully furnished with Victorian pine. There is a bar, a sunny veranda overlooking the gardens and a charming drawing room with an open fire. Guests also have complimentary use of the local health and leisure club, which is just a few minutes walk away.

En suite room Breakfast Friendliness prime spot for accessing centre of town. Location The room was large, light and airy. convenient for Harrogate International Centre and very friendly. Clean rooms, good location. Staff were friendly. Good sized room. Good location. location is all this poor excuse for a hotel/b&b has got going for it.

The limited checking in time, which was not notified on the booking. decor is a bit basic and getting breakfast on time was difficult. The outside of the building was terrible-rubble and broken toys everywhere. The inside was ok although the rooms could definitely do with a freshen up in terms of decor. An air of neglect filled the hotel. No staff on premises. No english speaking staff. Tv not working well. It was very dated and dirty and the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. everything was pathetic and shouldnt even be classed as a 1 star establishment , stay clear of this place unless it is the last place available like it was for us. No staff on duty day or night. Room bathroom and toilet dirty and not cleaned from previous guests. Car park full of builder's rubble and rubbish so only one car could park. No bar. etc. etc. etc. On arrival a key was given to us and that was the last we saw of any staff except for 1 hour at breakfast. Dirty small room with cobwebs, Dirty top bedding, full waste bin from previous guest, dirty crockery in the room. Broken leaking toilet.No staff available. Old unwatchable tv. Cold breakfast. Overall a dreadful experience. How does this establishment get an aa**** rating?. The car park was full of rubble The garden was overgrown No staff to greet us No pillow cases on the pillows Cobwebs and dust in the bathroom The kettle leaked £110 per night for what I would describe as a 2 star guest house and not a 4 star hotel. We only stayed the one night. 3 floors, no lift. No one present at reception or when we departed. No bar. No dinners served at the hotel. It was a guest house no one was there to welcome me , was just left a key . Very dirty dead flys in room at breackfast no where to sit and dirty I couldn't even eat there . Very upsetting as I could of stayed at the best western for a quater of the price awful experience. No one to greet yu , poor English breakfast, no satisfactory parking on hotel grounds. Not a 4star hotel,also building materials on hotel grounds. This is listed in our email to you to Crystal Carlise following a conversation with her on Tuesday this week.
