First recorded as an inn in 1311, with preserved ancient walls and beams, Archangel can be described as a modern medieval property and has free Wi-Fi, a bar and restaurant. The quirky bedrooms are decorated in deep, rich purples and golds and include lots of luxurious details. Some rooms are located in the courtyard and feature power showers rather than roll-top bath tubs. Facilities include a flat-screen TV, Branche d’Olive body products, real tea and proper coffee with fresh milk. The hotel offers a hot and cold buffet breakfast. The stunning restaurant, which features beamed ceiling and French windows opening onto the courtyard garden, offers exciting dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The stylish bar and adjoining lounge serve food throughout the day. Frome is a historic market town with cobbled streets and a many listed buildings. Bath is a 25-minute drive from the Archangel and there are 2 parking spaces opposite the hotel, with more spaces nearby.

The Archangel was easy to find. We reported to reception and were met by a young and enthusiastic lady who welcomed us with a genuine smile. This person took us on a quick tour of the amenities before showing us to our room which was everything the booking site said it was. The food was gourmet standard and you would have to be very picky to find anything not to your liking. I was so impressed that on two occasions I sent my compliments to the Chef, something I do not do lightly. I even learnt .

Room no 5 with till top bath really nice , mini bar with soft drinks and real fresh milk for coffee & tea making facilities . The creaky floorboards all added to the olde world atmosphere . Would definitely recommend . Evening meal good and reasonable price & breakfast good with hot & cold options .Very central location . Great place to stay !. Staff where amazing, friendly extremely accommodating couldn't do enough for us which was just what we needed travelling for the 1st time with our baby Girl! Assisted with our luggage bought drinks to our room, prior to arrival contacted us to see if we required a table reserving, could not ask for better service. We will definitely stay again if visiting the area x. Everything - Quirky design with superb attention to detail. Great sound system in the room with funky music supplied on cd. Tin bath with bubbles was a real treat. Beautiful paintings and artwork in restaurant and communal areas. Real buzz to the whole place and food was delicious. Unbelievably comfortable bed. Big bath made the kids (and daddy) squeal with joy. Baby monitor coped easily when we went down to the bar? Really lovely staff who went out of their way to help. Expensive, but a lovely blowout, I don't begrudge the price. design, welcome, facilities, extras in the room and the general standard of fixtures. The manager and all staff were extremely obliging, the restaurant food was good, and the breakfast qualifies as gourmet. Try the kippers with chive butter sauce. Very nicely converted old building. The rooms were done very tastefully, up to modern standards but remaining a lot of their oldy-worldy charm. That my room was changed as I was unable to access the internet with either my laptop or ipad. The room I was put into was awesome. Thank you. Lovely hotel in a converted old coach house. Great room and fabulous restaurant - would definitely recommend eating in the restaurant - also good choice of real ales. Very unusual place but in a very nice way. If traveling this way again I would not hesitate in staying again. Chef Roland's 5 course tater menu with wines is not to be missed. It was the highlight of our trip. the comfy room, the atmosphere, friendly welcome, excellent food, outside courtyard was very nice. The room was very tastefully decorated in a gothic style. The lack of parking is an initial problem but this is easily overcome as the hotel staff can provide you with a sticker which is placed on your internal mirror. This allows you to park in the local pet shop car park. Nothing. the early morning bin collection and the Poundland deliveries!. Avoid the restaurant on cold winter days. It was freezing inside when we were there. Breakfast was good, but very simple (not a lot of choice). The internet was not working in my original room. Room was facing busy road and was woken up early by the recycling trucks emptying water bottles banks - very noisy :-( But would recommend and stay there again in a different room :-). Nothing. Floor boards in room abit creaky. We were booked into room 3 right next to where a long table was set for a 40th birthday party. The noise was horrendous up to 12.30am and we had to be up early next day to catch ferry at Plymouth. Very very disappointed. No staff at reception upon arrival. Had to find staff member who was a bit terse initially but warmed up. Breakfast toast, ordinary sliced bread - all other bread good. I wish to have the shower in the toilet and not just the bath in the room. Our room was next to (Iceland) shop so woken up early by delivery van. Noisy drunks outside at 3:30am Sunday morning. Need more fan's. Fair too hot. Music playing in the public areas from 8am on Sunday morning which could be heard clearly in my bedroom. It was too early and too loud. No car park so I had to get up early to put a ticket on the car in the Marks and Spencers car park behind the Hotel. Stayed in room 7, no ventilation in the room. It was 34 deg C. The window wouldn't open so it was far too hot Our room was joined to next door so we were woken up by next doors tv at 6.30am and we could hear their conversation word perfect. I was in a large double with a camp bed for my 14 year old grandson. The camp bed was very uncomfortable! I suggest they invest in a sofa bed or a z bed. Room looked unfinished, wasn't cleaned properly, there was visable cobwebs everywhere and no where to put anything in the shower. Cramped.
