Originally built in the 15th Century, the hotel is ideally placed for enjoying the beautiful surrounding countryside and the leisure and entertainment facilities on offer in the thriving city of Sheffield. Each of the exquisitely decorated guestrooms features a flat-screen HD TV, an en suite bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. The modern dining lounge offers a diverse menu which includes tapas and traditional English dishes. All dishes are prepared with the best local and seasonal produce. The hotel is located in the peaceful market town of Dronfield. It is a 10 minute drive from the striking Peak District and just 20 minutes from Sheffield. There are plenty of nearby attractions including Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Matlock Bath.

The hotel was in a central location within the town, with ample parking. Our room was on the small side but was clean, although the gloss work could do with a refresh. We opted for the tapas menu in the hotel restaurant and weren't disappointed, the food was very good and the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant was lively. The hotel had a late bar, however we did not experience any issues with noise from this or from the pub next door. Our booking including breakfast, and again this lived up to th.

Great stay the weekend of the annual TVR Car Club meeting at Chatsworth House. Excellent ribeye in the restaurant and a warm atmosphere in the bar. The owner popped over during dinner to say hi. The bed was comfortable and there's a car park at the back. Perfect. The staff were very very friendly, polite, helpful and very welcoming. Will definitely be returning there. Food was excellent. Two flights of stairs to room & we had heavy suitcases as we had been travelling for a month. I am not really complaining about this because it is a very old & historic hotel with immense charactor. Unfortunately we were woken early by a very noisy motor/aircon that seemed to be just above our room (the Monroe room). The double bed was standard and a little small for us. We had the only room without an en-suite bathroom . It had a private bathroom across the corridor but the shower was very small and cramped. Leaving!. Very busy in the bar over the weekend so not a quiet place. -The pillow:not smooth, because the material inside. the ceilings were very low (I know this can't be helped its an old building but if you are tall you hit your head!) The bar area needed more bar stools. Noise from the bar from the Manor and Blue Stoop on Fri and Sat evening on the street as people left. We really found no fault. Compact rooms (suits looked bigger). Room at front was a bit noisy from the road / pub-goers. Overall good value. The noise from the smoking shelter outside our bedroom window was made worse by a drunken shrieking woman who seemed to like the sound of her own voice. Though this happens everywhere and is not the hotels fault. I would have liked a receipt for our stay but the printer wasn't working and the card machine didn't give a customer copy so I don't have anything to show I have paid. Our room, which was at the end of the second floor was too small.. N/A. the stairs could be a problem for less agile guests, the indoor stairs were very difficult to climb, and the external stairs on the very wet day we were there were easier to climb but we got wet!!. Seperate bathroom across corridor to room, flat pillows on bed. Could have done with a few hooks somewhere to hang things as the wardrobe only allowed for short things, also nowhere to put a suitcase apart from the floor by the bed. We came back around 10 pm and couldn't park our car in the hotel car park, we could also hear evrything that went on in the bathroom nextdoor to us. Room and bathroom was a little tired and very small although to be fair was marketed as small double but don't like beds up against walls. No Fridge in room, No Milk, The hotel is located opposite a pizza shop that is very loud,music going until 12am and doors banging. Our shower head needed to be mended/replaced. noisy shower next door early morning. There was a lot of noise from the bar downstairs until around midnight. Beware of room 7, aka the Marilyn Monroe suite, the bathroom is not en-suite, it is across the corridor. Seems to be the only room like it. We have stayed there before but in another room on the same floor, that was fine. However, the ceilings are quite low, anyone over about 6'1'' would be ducking. Menu choice/price. The bed was very bumpy and too small. Nothing. Having to leave the bedroom to get to the bathroom. There were no dislikes. Pillows too lumpy. Double bed pushed up against a wall. Bacall room was tiny. Breakfast (included in price)was so slow, we ran out of time (depsite leaving ourselves an hour!)...we didn't even get it, let alone eat it which was a shame as the lady's breakfast sat next to us looked great. Room decor was very dark mostly black.Lot of traffic noise from road outside & noise from other people on saturday evening. lack of shaver point in bathroom steep steps outside to accomodation. We had a very small first floor room, which was a bit cramped, although it did have everything we needed. There was no air-conditioning and, as the windows opened out to a large flat roof from which someone could easily climb into the room, we had to sleep with the window shut. Normally that would be ok, but the temperature that weekend was quite warm at around 26 degrees, so the heat was unbearable. dusty room carpet not vacuumed properly very lumpy pillows. Very noisy due to traffic and locals using the hotel. Room was very stuffy. Cleaning service not too good. Couldn't get parked one evening because of locals using hotel.
