Taking the advantage of a late deal this was excellent value for money, and with only a few guests staying in the hotel on the lead up to Christmas we were given a complementary up-grade...even better! We've stayed before and will stay again though probably only with a special deal as I think the full rate is a bit steep. Breakfast was 10/10, evening meal was 8/10. Everything was fantastic-from the lovely Jean who went out of her way to assist in every way ( including arranging for chef to get out of bed extra early to cater for our early departure to the obliging barman with the Bulgaria accent. The scenery is also breathtaking.todos opiniões »
Superb views, quiet location on historic lake, excellent food, charming staff. Relatively high price, but worth it--a memorable stay. Our room was very comfortable, the situation of the hotel was beautiful and the food was excellent as was the service.Close proximity to where I was going next morning.spectacular view ofthe lake. Excellent fresh food on the menu. Great room. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food delicious. Log fire which made the place very homely.excellent short break scenery breathtaking very peaceful for recharging batteries!. We particularly enjoyed the homely atmosphere in the hotel. Excellent location, food and service. Fabulous location. Wonderful setting, lovely bar and restaurant area, excellent foyer and washroom areas down stairs, quite simple but tasteful, classy and thoughtful decor. A very lovely, peaceful place to spend a few nights. I think we had a good but fair deal price wise (week-before booking). The staff, atmosphere, the food, the surroundings. Rooms, views, ambience and staff.... Food was fantastic. The hotel has a fantastic restaurant. Also, although I could not get mobile phone coverage, I was not charged for using the room phone to ring home. The room was clean and modern (could, perhaps, have used a new carpet) and the staff were always pleasant and friendly. Excellent food, very friendly staff, superb ambience, perfect views, anything missing in the room was rectified at once, real coffee for the room trolley. The location and the view over the lake. staff, views, breakfast, upgrade to better room because solo traveller. excellent setting, great bar. rooms were at a high standard. The staff were great. Very warm and friendly. The bar and restaurant are decorated really nicely. With the most amazing views across the lake. The location and setting on the lakeside. Staff were very friendly and the hotel has been greatly improved in recent years. The hotel is not within walking distance of a pub so there is a monopoly in terms of bar prices. I think it is a mistake to push prices up too much and I am sure the hotel would increase bar takings if prices were reduced and spirit measures were changed to 35ml. Customers should be encouraged, not squeezed!. A bit hard to find from the road--road sign in elegant but small lettering, as if an eye chart!. From the early hours there was a background, but noticeable hum, possibly a washing machine or tumble drier? It disturbed my wife's sleep, but then if you knew my wife it doesn't take much! The hotel promotes good food and wine/whisky and that's great but I don't think there needs to be so much of a 'mark-up' on some things, and why 25ml measures at what should be 35ml prices. When relaxing I had asked if there was a game of backgammon available for guest to use and was surprised that no board games were available at all. There was no flexibility between the bar menu and the full courserestaurent menu.I.E. We were not overly hungary after outravel butwanted a 'better' food and 'eating' experience than sitting in the bar!!. £4 for a glass of wine is a little too close to the pain threshold!. I thought the Restaurant sample menu of two courses for £16 was a bitpricey as you could have the same in the Bar much cheaper. We did have ameal in the Bar and it was well presented and excellent value. rooms bit old fashioned. food was poor for the price - bland and overcooked. I have been here before and this is not the typical standard here which is normally very good. My complaints would be the room. It was very small and the the decor was dated. We could hear the neighbouring room occupant snoring, this kept us awake and was far from relaxing. We ate in the bar the and had the starter of mussels which were perfect, but our mains (burger from the chefs specials) and deserts (cheese board) were far from great. We did however have a very nice Scottish cooked b. Food was over priced and not enought choice. The bed room was cold and the heating was not working properly. The hotel changed the room but that was cold as well. Not helped by one of the coldest nights of the year.
