  The staff was amazing, happened to be there during the riots on taksim square and the staff was very professional, reassuring ang accommodating. Also it was great to be in an area less touristic than the famous sultanamet and we discovered a lot by just wandering around the beyoglu area. It is very close to İstiklal Street but it is located in very secure region of Taksim. The room was very well appointed, real boutique hotel style.   We enjoyed our short 1 night stay at On Suites! We love the location (close to most main attractions like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, endless shopping streets of Istiklal Ave), the apartment-like atmosphere with loft bed and kitchen, cleanliness-WOW. Super clean place. Easy access to food! Lastly, friendly and accomodating staff! - The hotel staff were the ones that really made our stay memorable. The were caring, funny and tried to help us with all our needs, from getting a change of room due to a faulty air-conditioning unit, to recommending the best kebab shop in the area. They were always around for a friendly chat and made us feel a home.

  The history: Agatha Christie wrote her [Murder on the Orient Express] at this hotel. There is a small exhibition area on the fourth floor about this and other historic moments. The elevator from 1895 can still run (though not always in use). They sell postcards and other souvenirs about the hotel at the front desk. Really a piece of history! The Breakfast - A classic hotel, which I've used twice before, in 1995 & 2005, before its recent refurbishment. It's now three times the price, but the grandeur is no longer faded, it's now a true 5-star place. And I'm delighted to say that the refurb hasn't spoilt its character at all, as this is a hotel with more character and history than most! Staff were great, we got a room upgrade, and an extra hour extended checkout wasn't a problem. If we return to Istanbul, it'll be the Pera Palas for us!
