From Cape Town/George: - Take the N9 out of George. - Go over the Outeniqua Pass and continue for approximately 90 km. - Take the R62 exit towards Joubertina/Humansdorp, 15 km before Uniondale. - You will see signs towards Avontuur on your right-hand side. - From here you have 2 possible routes - see below. Via the Uniondale Pass: - Continue on the R62, past the Avontuur exit. - Go over the bridge and turn left onto the R339 towards Uniondale. - After about 3 km turn right onto the De Hoop Road (gravel road). - Continue for 21 km passing through 2 gates (which must be opened and closed). - When you see the sign for Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat, pass through the gate and you will arrive at the reception. Via the Bo Kouga Exit from the R62: - Continue on the R62, past the Avontuur exit. - Continue past Haarlem and Ongelegen. - Just after the Ongelegen River look out for the Bo Kouga exit, as it is easy to miss. - Turn left at the Bo Kouga exit (you will see large blue gum trees) and continue for 10 km along the gravel road to a T-junction. - Turn left and continue for another 13 km until you reach the sign for Bo Kouga. - Pass through the gate and you will arrive at the Bo Kouga Mountain Retreat reception. The gravel road is in fair condition and can be used by ordinary vehicles, although a low speed is recommended as there are some difficult areas.
