We opened the shutters in our room to see a superb view of the famous
sassi of Matera. The staff at reception went out of their way to help us
check the details of the next leg of our journey and the friendliness we
received left us with just a desire to return soon. The hotel is

Rooms were nicely appointed, the hotel is walking distance from the beautiful historic town, the breakfast provided onsite was delicious and had a larger selection than is typical in this region. The was my best hotel experience, ever!
This place exceeded every expectation I imagined. The owner, Fernando, was charming and a delight to talk to. He has lived in Matera for 22 years and has been in charge of the restorer action of the property. It is incredible. My wife was overcome with tears of joy when she saw the room.

Host and owner Fernando sets the benchmark of hospitality in Italy. Generous and helpful, he booked us tables at the most interesting restaurants nearby and filled us in on the fascinating history of this interesting town (over grappa). The rooms themselves embody this history and are each different, without sacrificing luxury. Simplicity as well as attention to details. Thoroughly recommend.

Amazing cave room - absolutely HUGE! Believe this was the best room and it certainly had the wow factor and provided a unique experience. Lovely outside terrace too.Staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious and generous. The location in the centre of Sassi is perfect. The amenities were excellent, we did not want for anything and outstanding views right in front of the Hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our thanks especially go to Chiara and Cinzia.

This is one of the best BB's we ever stayed. The room was very convenient, quiet and nicely decorated. The location is just perfect in the heart of Matera with a walking distance to all interesting places, but also 10 minutes walk to the

This hotel was like staying in another world from centuries past. It was
amazing each room situated in what seemed was stone cliffsides. The view
from both windows looked out on the ancient city. All sites were within
walking distance. The manager spoke English and gave many ideas with
walking map to find them. You don't have to be interested in Italian
history to thoroughly enjoy this hotel. Breakfast was wonderful with all

The rooms were immaculate clean. Anna was wonderful, very kind and accomodating. She is pprovided us with a beautiful spread of organic seasonal local fruits, homemade jams, fresh cheeses, pastries, croissants for our morning breakfast. A wondeful place to stay for a small town get away.
