Thishotel definetely misses at least a star. It should at least be a 3-starhotel. The owner and his wife has created a little gem in the centre ofSaumur, with a lot of attention to detail, with every room with adifferent theme. Excellent work. The owner Bruno was very helpful during our stay at these amazing castle. The rooms were fantastic and huge. When it was very warm during our stay in Saumur the swimming pool was great. The castle is located just outside Saumur and it's easy to get into saumur which is a very nice town for shopping and have a lot of restaurants. The gates to the castle is also looked at nights so it feels really safe to have the car there.

We were welcomed on arrival by a delightful family, who made us feel very comfortable in their lovely home. Our hosts helped with places to eat in town, and had suggestions of more places to visit. The swimming pool was made available, and breakfasts were excellent. A very enjoyable 3 days.

As mentioned in a previous review, we wondered about the stairs problem but don't know what the fuss is about - we are both in our mid-60's and didn't find the stairs at all difficult. Anyway, the very helpful manager insisted with helping with luggage. There is plenty of public parking at very little cost immediately outside the hotel and the location is ideal for exploring the centre of Saumur on foot.
