We enjoyed the unique experience of living on a boat for a few days. It was a new experience for us and certainly made our trip to France more memorable. It was great watching the rowers go by and we found we were well situated to see the Pont Du Avignon and were close to the old city. The breakfast served by the host was very good each morning. This is a large, converted Dutch barge, with just 2 spacious cabins. Its moored just upstream of the famous bridge at Avignon, but is completely secluded with a pool, hammocks and recliners on deck which you can use during the day if you wish. Breakfasts are superb and taken on deck; the staff couldn't be more helpful. Highly recommended!.
todos opiniões » Our room was the captain suite on a Rhone barge, or peniche. It was a little tight as rooms go,but what more would you expect from a barge. The amenities were perfect, the location couldn't be beat, breakfast on the deck, across from Avignon, at night, the moon rising up the length of the Rhone. Beautiful, different, fun!!. The seclusion the boat offered away from the busy town. The relaxed atmosphere and extremely friendly welcome throughout our stay. The breakfast was scrumptious and varied each day. Always served with a smile and a chat. They conversed in English and we all got by. The location is wonderfull on the rhone and nearby avignon. You just need to take the car for 5minutes, park for free, and walk 5minutes to the city centre. The room was also perfect, enough space, and breakfast was great with a lot of french sweats. Such a different experience with the Captain's Cabin and a spacious deck to eat, sunbath and enjoy the mini pool. The glorious weather helped of course. Outstanding service from the host and breakfasts to die for. The situation & seclusion of the boat was superb, as were the facilities - it was idyllic and breakfast was immense!. This place is just amazing and very cool. The owner is very friendly and the breakfest was very good and rich. A houseboat on the Rhone just across from Avignon; beautiful setting, wonderful breakfast, and pleasant hosts. Everything was amazing: the place, the room, the breakfast and the owner is very polite and friendly. Location was ok and the home made breakfast was the perfect start to our day (warm apple pie). A very novel stay. The plunge pool was a delight as was the room and breakfast. Location Breakfast Swimming pool Hammocks. An unusual (slightly cramped) B&B. Fantastic breakfast! Really friendly crew. Nice walk into Avignon along the river. Sadly we had rain during our visit so we weren't able to sit in the sun on the deck of the boat. You can't predict the weather, but it would have made the stay nicer. Having to leave!. The breakfast was pretty plain, and always the same...orange juice, a few bread items (hard roll and croissant), plain yogurt, fruit cocktail...yes, from a can, coffee, and the piece de resistance, a warm apple crisp kind of thing. Good, but a little variety would've made it better. The road across the river has a constant hum, but it didn't disturb us during the night. The shower and especially the toilet need upgrading. The toilet room in our cabin was very very small. The area was extremely busy. We had to drive back into Avignon for an evening meal. The shower was not really comfortable. The deck is not fully cleaned, but it did not bother for us. Lack of clear directions to find the boat location especially with the difficulty around the bridge. A short paragraph guiding guests from Avignon onto the bridge and then which turns to take on the island would have helped a lot. Absence of a hair dryer was surprising. Some remarks on the voyager's review : I didn't find mosquitos and there isn't bad smell. As it is on a ship some of the spaces are a bit tight but this is to be expected and greately adds to the character. Nothing. Mosquitos. Bear in mind that this type of accommodation is more adversely affected by poor weather than most.
