Our room was immaculate which is very important to me. The beds were
very comfortable and it was quiet and relaxing. The staff was awesome,
even keeping the dining room open a little later because we overslept
and letting us keep our parking space there after we checked out, until
we left town later that day..Everyone there was friendly and helpful.
Loved the all-white bedding and the fact that there was a duvet with
removable cover rather than those nasty comforters. Nice modern bathroom
and bright room. The dining room was a treat with the white tablecloths

Having continental breakfast served to us. Beautifully laid out on plate. Lovely dining room which looked out onto manicured lawn.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was quite good and the hotel restaurant is nice and has great views of the Main Street. The room was large, clean and attractive.

The location was close to shopping. The exterior of the hotel was nicely
maintained. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel staff were
friendly and attentive.

Our stay at the Gate House was unusual, we came back to the motel after a play, in heavy rain and suddenly water was pouring from the light fixtures in our room? We were given another better room and not charged for the night for which we were relieved because we agreed with their assessment. The fee for our original room was excessive we thought. Their restaurant was excellent and the breakfast of fruit and cheeses and meats excellent.
Size of the room more than ample. Art-deco style Hotel. Bathroom facilities terrific. Night shift staff accommodating towards the youth travelling with me. Check-in staff courteous but not overly attentive. We did have a comfortable stay, but were not in the room very much.
Hotel was in a fabulous position in central Niagara on the Lake, was clean, room was comfortable with 2 easy chairs so it was not necessary to sit on the bed to read. Good size and equipped bathroom.

There could have been another chest or table to place things on, and we
had trouble with the tv, as it needed to be turned on by a switch near
the entrance door and then adjusted. The theme of decor was kind of
retro 60's, and loud colors, but to each his own!.
The air-conditioner in room 8 needed a deflector as the cold air blew
straight down onto my bed - my only complaint!.
Climbing steps to our room, but it's minor.
The room carpet is ugly. If the owners ever wanted to give the place a makeover, that would be a good thing to change up. The rest of the room and hotel decor was lovely. Understanding it is a smaller, older hotel, it would still be a great upgrade to install an elevator as well. It was a bit tricky getting our baby and stroller up to the second floor.

Air conditioner was broken and windows only opened about 2 inches so that room was very warm. We stayed in room #10. They did accommodate us by reducing the room rate and we were only staying the one might.
They were training new staff and the trainer (manager?)spent more time
with the training then creating a personal contact with the customer.
May be they can reduce the room price a little.
One light switch by the door was controlling the tv and we turned the tv
off by mistake several times not knowing what that switch was for.
Only complaint is no coffee in the room for the am and this is minor.
coffee cups are too small and slow to be refilled at breakfast...
breakfast could be a small buffet... or include a few more choices... bread choices... cheese... the presentation of the breakfast plate was very nice...
I didn't like the fact that there isn't an elevator. But they did offer to carry my bags up the stairs and I said I could, so my fault for not taking advantage of that.

We had hoped to eat dinner there (having eaten there before) but there was a private party that night. Had we know, we would have gone elsewhere. So many people (>100) in the small lobby that it was very hard to get to our rooms.
The room was musty. Someone must have smoked in it.
Given the size of the room, I felt that the addition of a coffee maker and small refrigerator would have gone a long way. Didn't like the idea of having to go to the lobby for 24 hour coffee in my pyjamas; there is a restaurant that shares the lobby entrance. Free European Continental breakfast good quality and great for one overnight stay however, a cooked breakfast would be a nice option based on the price of the accommodation.
on arrival gentleman on reception was very stressed, receptionist also turns out to be working the restaurant (as were all reception staff)! No Tea/Coffee making facilities in room, no WiFi working and no intention by staff to rectify in fact they seem on forget to do anything each time we asked! Breakfast was a plate with a mix of items, no cereal or toast - all together very poor value for money.
basic furniture in room and chair was broken, holkes in wall where drapery track had been removed.
Rooms where not isolated enough therefore even if you talk your voice would disturb your neighbors.
For the price we paid. The room was VERY outdated. The red carpet and orange furniture need to be replaced. I felt like I stepped into the 80's.
The breakfast was't what one could term substantial fruit cheese and ham, no cereals. Presentation was beautiful.
Way over priced for what you get.
- On check in we were told that our room was based on a 2 person
occupancy but we were 4 people
- the asshole at the front desk went as far as contacting letsbookhotel.com to make sure we paid extra for 2 more people
-we ended up checking out and demanding a refund
-staff was VERY rude
-room was very outdated
-I would NEVER stay here
-way to ruin Canada Day long weekend!.
