I loved everything about the Blake Hotel. The staff was fantastic. My room was very comfortable and I felt very safe in this location. It has an onsite restaurant that serves good food and it is very close to the French Quarter, Canal Street shopping, the St Charles St trolley and only a 10 minute brisk walk to Cafe du Monde. There were always taxis within close range for going out at night. I really can't say anything bad about my stay. It was fabulous.

Also loved the restaurant downstairs for a quick, convenient meal when we didn't have time to stop elsewhere. Our hotel room was clean and nicely decorated. I read other reviews that said the rooms weren't nice, but ours was very nice. I would definitely stay here again. My husband and I just stayed at the Blake, June 16- 21st, 2013. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The lobby was welcoming and clean. The room was okay. We got a great deal on the room (almost 50% off). We would not stay at the hotel at their full price. The room was small but very nice and included free wi fi and an excellent bed. The hotel has a cafeteria that's great especially for breakfast and lunch. The location can't be beat, especially at the price I paid. Luxurious rooms for a great price, especially considering Easter weekend. Great proximity to the French Quarter - 10 minutes. Next door to Lafayette park where many Jazz events are held. Friendly, quiet hotel. The staff was very, very nice and helped with everything we needed. The location was perfect: 5 minutes from the action but not right in the middle of the hustle, so a bit of an escape when you need it. The night concierge was very helpful and provided a map with dangerous streets to and from the fq and Metaire. This allowed us to visit a ridiculous number of hard to reach places easily and safely. We did not like that the elevator kept breaking down. The room also needed some updates as there was peeling paint in places and things were taped up. There were no amenities at all and the restaurant was expensive. We thought a promotional tool the hotel could use would be to give guests a discount at the restaurant. The elevators can be slow at times. The reason we stayed in this hotel was because, around the time of jazz fest, hotel prices double. What normally would afford a higher class hotel landed us at the Blake. That being said, it was just fine - but there was some peeling wallpaper, no fan in the bathroom so it was muggy when we showered, and loud vents (all things you probably wouldn't see at the next hotel level up). Elevators are ridiculously slow. We missed a shuttle waiting for 10 mins on one floor. Luckily the staff called it and had it turn around. The coffee and cups in our room were not replenished. Room quite small and parking expensive. The location of the TV. It could not be viewed from the sitting area. there was nothing i dislike about it. We would have loved it had a balcony on our room... Room size, noise inside hotel. Can't say anything bad about our stay. Kind of run down in areas, bathroom could use some updating. Old fixtures. The commode in 501 looked like the insides had been painted. No valet service when we arrived. None. need new mattress in room 205. only 1 elevator worked.Called at 11:45 for car from deck and i got it at 12:25. Also took a long time to get it picked up at the start. Parking. Other hotels in the area include breakfast. No breakfast Very expensive parking. Sheets, bedspread, no blanket. Small rooms. front desk staff needs more training. their faces were cold to their customers. Light coming in the room under the door. Having to check my card since they charged me and I thought letsbookhotel.com already had. Problem checking in with reservation. Elevator to11 floor broke 2 times. Room key did not work 2 nd nite of stay. Ac broke 2 nd nite of stay. Ceiling leaked water 3 rd day. The hotel didn't have ant rooms ready at checking and was not willing to work with us. We were tired to ready to relax and change before dinner and was unable. No discount or anything for our trouble. Will not go back.
