The Westminster Hotel overlooks the picturesque Pavillion Gardens in central Buxton. It offers charming, family-run accommodation, and many rooms have views of the park and lake.
Buxton is surrounded on all sides by the Peak District, and is the highest market town in England. It is just a 10-minute walk from The Westminster to the town centre, where a market is held twice weekly.
Rooms at The Westminster Hotel are spacious, with carpeted floors and a flat-screen TV. Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the building, and free private parking is possible on site.
The nearby Buxton Opera House hosts a variety of shows throughout the year. Buxton Rail Station and the University of Derby can both be reached in 10 minutes’ walk.

We booked a room with a view of the of the Pavilion Gardens, and it exceeded our expectations. The town of Buxton is charming, it has many beautiful historical Victorian building, some of which are currently being restored. The location was beautiful, quiet and easy walking distance to the town. The train station is also nearby, but there is parking available at the Westminster. There are restaurants, supermarkets and a shopping centre close to the hotel. Tea and coffee making facilities in th. wszystkie opinie »
Extremely friendly, helpful and informative staff. Comfortable front sitting room with games, tv, drinks available and very comfortable lounge chairs. The full english breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Wonderful location overlooking the Pavilion Park with car parking at the back. Walking distance to everything including must see attractions, eateries and even a laundromat for those travellers who may need one. We would definitely come back.
Beautiful location with the Pavilion gardens right in front of you and right in centre of Buxton. Staff were friendly and gave us key to room before check in time. Full English breakfast was good and hotel has a lovely atmosphere. Beautiful decor with a lovely communal lounge. Room was beautifully decorated with pretty paintings and very clean. We were on top floor so were unable to get a decent signal for WiFi.
I flew into Manchester on a late afternoon / evening flight and phoned ahead to say I'd arrive quite late. The response was friendly and welcoming and that was repeated when I got there. My stay provided exactly the right balance of comfort, cleanliness, attention to detail and efficient service I required for my business trip.
The staff were very helpful. We were staying ahead of my brothers wedding and a clothing disaster meant that we had to check out an hour late. The staff were very understanding and didn't charge us any extra. A great help, thanks! The room was lovely with a park view, and breakfast was good. Overall, great value for money.
Beautiful and great location in a quite area near the Gardens, but in the same time close to shops and not too far from the railway station. 15 min walk and you are in the forest!
Was given the key few hours before the check-in time.
Also, the hotel is one of those very few places which makes you feel like home :).
The staff could not have been more helpful. The room was large and very
comfortable. I could not have wanted for more given the price.
Breakfast was excellent, free parking on the premises and only a couple
of minutes walk (literally) from the centre of Buxton. I will
definitely stay there again.
Beautifully situated overlooking a park. The Proprietor was friendly and helpful, and she recommended "The Lone Star" Mexican restaurant for our evening meal, which was excellent value, very tasty and huge portions: our tip: you won't need a starter!! Buxton is a lovely place to visit.
I was in room 10, with a lovely view of the park and lake. Because this hotel is not in the city centre it is quiet at night and just a 5 minute walk from all you need in shops, theatre and restaurants. Maybe less tahn 10 minutes to the Univ. of Derby Buxton, Dome and campus.
Great location, lake view as requested (5) Easy walking distance to all amenities. Friendly proprietor/staff, provided map and recommendations for places to eat. Spacious comfortable room. No problems accessing wi-fi. Breakfast cooked to order, plentiful and enjoyable.
A very friendly and welcoming hotel with helpful staff. Great location.
Provided proper milk on request- thanks. Changed to an upgraded room
when radiator did not work, and did not quibble when it came back on
line! Good breakfast, freshly cooked, not a tired buffet.
Great location within easy walking distance to town and Pooles Cavern. Very nice view from the room which was over looking the park. Good facilities, lovely bedroom and very nice breakfast. Best view from a toilet seat that I have ever had.
Location on the Park. Good standard of rooms and facilities. Conventional but enjoyable breakfast with all the expected options, in a comfortable dining room. Buxton is probably the best base for a Peak district holiday.
The owner was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean, location was fantastic a short walk to town and Paul's carvern. Plenty of spaces to park, the breakfast was nice, and we had a great view from our room.
Again, good service and warm, comfortable room. Nice and central to Buxton, and overlooking the park so quiet and away from traffic. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
Made very welcome by owner although very early .Great location over looking the pavilion gardens Nice room, good breakfast with friendly staff.Would stay again if we were in the north.Really liked Buxton.
Room with a view over Pavillion Gardens was lovely. Bedroom and en suite very good and comfortable.
Full English Breakfast beautifully cooked. Staff friendly and very helpful. We had a lovely stay.
requested a lake view and was given one. top floor, lots of stairs but worth it. arrived early but room was ready.lovely full english breakfast. quiet location. easy reach of the town centre.
Great location in the national park. Hotel overlooks Buxton's Pavillion Gardens (if you're lucky enough to have a front-of-house room - we weren't!). Charming Park District town.
Easy going atmosphere and the staff were helpful and approachable. The views from the room over the lake were good. Close to the town centre. This hotel is good value for money.
A lovely family room with opening windows rather than the usual ventilation systems. The staff and the breakfast were excellent, certainly sustained us all for our busy day.
We enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere & the hostess was very helpful. Being situated near the lake made it possible to walk everywhere within Buxton, which was enjoyable.
Excellent location within walking distance of all attractions. Very comfortable room with view over the Boardwalk to lake. Most enjoyable breakfast. Friendly staff.
We were given a front bedroom with a nice aspect overlooking the public gardens and the location provided a pleasant walk into the town centre for an evening meal.
Looking out over beautiful park and lake and front door straight on to Broad Walk, pedestrianised amble into town. Room beautiful and warm despite cold weather.
Nice size room in good decorative condition, comfy bed, good shower. Plenty of tea/coffee. Lovely view across park/lake.
Good Breakfast included in price.
Ideal for Couples young and More mature. Lovely setting backing onto the park. Beautiful setting especially in the snow.
Good breakfast , love the place.
The friendliness of the owner and the welcome you receive on arrival and the high quality of the breakfast both in terms of the food and the presentation.
Lovely position in a really good location for surrounding Peak District. Really friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts great. Excellent value for money.
The hotel was opposite the park.
A short walk in to the town centre.
Pleasant place to stay.
Bed really comfortable.
Lovely full English breakfast.
good location for town and theater, parck for walking next to the hotel, good place to be for exploring around the area, warm and friendly staff.
Excellent location, cosy room, bright and clean throughout. Friendly proprietor, lots of information available about local places of interest.
Very friendly people. Lovely location overlooking the park. Great breakfast. Handy for town centre. Brilliant value at 40 quid inc breakfast.
We left in a hurry as my Mother was ill, the Owner immediately posted to us some things we had overlooked in our packing, Thank you Shelley x.
Wonderful position and views.
Lovely rooms, and immaculately
clean.Lovely bedding.
Friendly staff and good parking.
Watching the squirrels!!.
Unbeatable location, within easy reach from the railway station, great
view of the gorgeous pavilion garden, great full english breakfast.
Lovely quiet location overlooking the lakes and within 5 minutes walk from the Opera House. Comfortable room, Excellent breakfast.
Excellent room overlooking the pavilion gardens and lake (which we requested); comfortable bed and a beautifully cooked breakfast.
Excellent location walking distance from center of Buxton and also Pooles Cavern. Comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast.
The breakfast was very good and we were just a short walk from the Opera House, the Hotel overlooks the gardens and lake.
Beautiful location; near restaurants, pubs, etc; affordable; clean; good breakfast; friendly staff. What more can I say?.
Location. Parking available. Friendly staff.
We were only there for a one night visit but it suited our needs perfectly.
Let's put it this way, we would CERTAINLY go again!!!!
It was clean, helpful staff and the breakfasts were delicious!.
Good breakfast, excellent location next to the gardens. Helpful owner helped us with a map to find local amenities.
Lovely clean comfortable room over looking the park, very friendly staff. Great stay would definately stay again.
We liked the location of the hotel, lovely view of the park. The hotel was welcoming and clean and comfortable.
The hotel was situated on the edge of the park with beautiful views. It was a short but pretty walk into town.
Fantastic huge room with view over gardens. Lovely. Great service from the son who checked us in after hours.
hotel was quiet room warm view lovely breakfast very good staff helpful hotel very clean will stay again.
location was excellent, parking available , room spacious and comfortable, firm bed . lovely hot bath,.
No table in room to sit and enjoy a hot drink at the end of the day. One large white cane chair which took up lots of space. Breakfast finished at 9 am.
Nothing.
The shower was quite slow ; a mere trickle. WiFi signal was low in our room but we didn't mind.
Sadly, despite there seeming to be a wi-fi extender/bridge right outside my door and clear log-in instructions, no signal was detected so I lost valuable minutes trying to connect. It's a truism that most people rely on this these days, and Buxton is dreadful for 3G, so ensuring reliable 'always on' wi-fi could be a great promotional point.
The kettle :) and the backyard view from my bedroom, but been able to gaze at the full moon at night made up for it :).
We had a room with a view onto the fire escape, but it was very reasonably priced, so we weren't expecting the Ritz!.
I would of liked a more comfortable chair for reading and work in the room. Quests should be aware that there's no lift ( if your suitcases are heavy!) but the staff is very helpful in assisting you.
Shower could have been a little more powerful ( minor point).
Mattress a bit hard, but they always are in hotels.
Nothing.
The hotel is more like a bnb.the hotel seems abit dated! The door at the top of the stairs is very noisy. And shower isn't very good, it seemed to just trickle water!.
Nothing.
hard bed but that is personal opinion.
Steep stairs. Small room.
The fact that I couldn't find another wonderful price deal with the same hotel for a couple of days later.
Nothing.
N/A.
Though called a hotel it is really a B&B.
No heating in bathroom.
Would like bigger choice of cereals.
TV rather small, but functional.
There was nothing to dislike.
The bedroom was very overlooked by the next door property.A net curtain would have been better at the window.
Had to park the car on the road as hotel had limited parking.
Nothing really. Would book again.
Nothing.
On the last day, we packed our things and left the luggages in our room
and went for a walk. We came back before the check-out time and our the
door of our room has left opened even our luggages were still inside.
Someone had started to clean the room well before the check-out time.
No elevator and our room was on the 3rd storey. 2 flights of stairs and we are 72 & 80 respectively. It was our own fault, I suppose, for not checking in advance. So we had to plan for the day & evening when we went out in the morning to avoid repeating the climb.
Shower took a bit of getting used to, but we cracked it in the end!.
Nothing, but suggest you include Hartington Road in your address as it would help motorists using a Sat Nav to find your car park.
Poor parking conditions and small room on second floor, a touch expensive for such a room.
Nothing.
No lift, but we are both senior citizens whose knees are not good. They were very good and accommodated us on the first floor, though.
Double bed was two beds pushed together with a sheet over the two.
We loved breakfast, but maybe put a menu on the tables to give a choice of the different breakfast items.
The parking was difficult if you arrive late.
couldn't find any faults at all.
some updating of the furniture needed, menus on breakfast table as waitress not very forthcoming.
