I would not recommend that you take the breakfast as it is not in the same block, it does not open till 10 or 10.30am and it is not worth the value for the money you pay - Euro 4.for a coffee and a toast. So for you who like to shop this is the perfect hotel. Another plus of the hotel is the location very near metro station (forgot the name of the station) just 2 minutes walk. So you can go everywhere easily.

  The location of the hotel - I was travelling with a suitcase and the hotel is literally just around the corner from a metro stop. The staff were very helpful - very centrally located for main attractions. - Amazing location, friendly staff who provided any assistance required regarding directions etc. Basic but comfortable room.

  We stayed one night at the Plaza Mayor and wished our stay in Madrid was longer. The hotel is an old traditional building with charming features. Our room was a good size with everything we needed. On the oposit side is a supermarket on the underground level from a shopping mall (you can find here glutenfree products too) and nearby a lot of little restaurants.
