The location of the hotel is very practical as far as access to the centre of the city is concerned; just a 5 minute walk to restaurants and other amenities. The room was very comfortable and was equipped with full-functioning air conditioning which was an essential as temperatures soared to close to 40 degrees during our stay. Don't be put off by the external appearance. The hotel is down an alleyway off a slightly scruffy side road (literally) on the wrong side of the railway tracks from the old town. The only clue to its presence is a "23" on a laminated sign at the entrance to an old courtyard. Once inside however, in a typically Italian way, all is transformed. The rooms are lovely, beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. The bathroom to our room was huge, with a shower large enough to take several friends .
A superb conversion of the top floor of an old convent. The surrounding area is a bit daunting on arrival, as the B & B is tucked away in a courtyard through an old arch at the end of an alley, but inside, the place is charming, the rooms very modern and everywhere spotless. The location is perfect, right in the centre of Como, there is parking outside the building, the breakfast is good and the host is very friendly and helpful.
It took us some time to find the right entrance. Hard to imagine such a nice and cosy place behind this facade.

Wow - centuries old building, wonderful stone staircase, very welcoming owner - do ask to see his 'church'. Great location 200m from quayside and from the Lago Nord station. Nice choice of breakfast, taken around a single table with other guests with cold/hot drinks available whenever. The rooms are lovely, new bathroom with quality fittings. Great place!.
Very unusual setup of the accommodation - it is actually renovated old convent. Looks absolutely horrible, and therefore not easy to spot, from outside but beautiful and cosy inside. The Owner Giampiero is a great character and a valuable source of information about the local attractions and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.
Very helpful, jolly and knowledgable owner who speaks good English. Free parking in courtyard. Lovely spacious and well-equipped room and large bathroom with all facilities. Excellent location in the city but nonetheless quiet; fascinating and intriguing building. Good breakfast. Highly recommended.

The B&B was slightly difficult to find but this would be easily remedied by ringing the very friendly owner, Giampiero. Traffic noise was fairly loud at times but I don't believe this is a problem unique to Como, rather a nationwide problem throughout Italy. Don't let this put you off however.
Although it was not a problem for us, the rooms are at the top of the building, four floors up, and there is no lift. Would not suit guests who have difficulty with stairs.
Breakfast might be improved a little with local pastries or special bread for example.
Air-conditioning was struggling to counter the outside temperatures in summer. Our room had no views, as the windows were all Velux roof lights - though they provided adequate illumination.
Wi Fi did not work properly, we had to use the Owner's network which could only be connected to in the common dining room.
Only minor niggles: price is slightly on the high side but for the total experience at S. Antonio its well worth it. Strangely there was no window to the outside world in our room, only a rooflight. Wifi internet was a bit fiddly to set up.
Bit of a struggle up the stairs with two bags. No where to put your bags but on the floor in the room we had which was the smallest. No tea making facilities in the room.
