Having arrived late on a ferry into Heraklion, we were warmly welcomed by Yannis into his hotel with pizza and beers. From then on Yannis continued to be extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is meticulously clean with excellent facilities. Aloe apartments is a very nice place to stay, close to the old town where there are lots of shops and tavernas. The manager of the hotel Lefteris is a wonderful person who will always be glad to help you and give you good advice. The beach is just across the road and the supermarket is only 200 metres away.

Great place and ambiance. We stayed in room #101, this was their cave room, part of the old monastery. Lot's of history here. The food at the restaurant does not disappoint! The owner was extremely helpful and hospitable as well. He also makes his own wine, raki (similar to grappa) and a lemon liquor. We bought some of his liquor to take home. Would definitely return here.
