This was our first holiday in the Dordogne and it couldn't have got off to a better start. We were very pleased with L'Escale as our choice of B&B. The location is fabulous right next to the river, the rooms are spacious and very clean. The food served on the "Hot Stones" was very good and a nice change from the Regional Cuisine that was served everywhere else. Chris and Meryl the owners are fantastic and very helpful. We would go back again and would definitely recommend L'Escale to al.
wszystkie opinie » What a find. We stayed at L'escale for three nights on our way down to the south coast of France. Very welcoming and friendly owners, we ate in the restaurant every night as we all enjoyed the the hot stone menu and or pizza, especially our teenagers. Our two good sized rooms were comfortable and looked out onto the garden and were a stones throw away from the banks of River Dordogne. Very handy for a quick dip or hiring a canoe. Thank you Chris and Meryl. Thank you for a lovely few days at L'Escale. Great location right on the River Dordogne, which was warm and clean enough to swim in! Our evening meal at the hotel was fab on our last evening - mer et terre cooked on hot stones! I'm sure we'll be staying again at this family run hotel, when we visit our relatives in nearby Belves. Beautiful, relaxing setting beside the river; easy access to other areas of interest such as the castles and bastides of the Dordogne; warm, welcoming and hospitable hosts - nothing was too much trouble; off street, free parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Untouchable value for money. Located on the river, great views of the bridge. Supermarket and facilities within minutes walk. Owners friendly and attentive. Good position to explore the area, and sample the local cuisine in Belves, Audrix, etc... Chris and Meryls personality,they were both very helpful.Nothing was to much for them and they guided us to some very interesting places ie. Josaphine Bakers ex. Chateau.The room was large with a large well equiped bathroom,all very clean. Very good location for sightseeing Perigord. Hotel lies 10 metres from Dordogne river in a great place for swimming (our 7-year old daughter absolutely loved it!). Rooms are clean, with nice decor and the beds are very comfortable. There was nothing to dislike. Nothing. Nothing. We stayed for 5 nights during an unusually hot period. It was hot even at night but we didn't open windows as they were easily accessible from outside and with the big camping nearby it didn't feel safe enough. No hairdryer. The accommodation was modest but clean and comfortable. Everything was fine although more variety with the menu would enhance an excellent reputation. Very basic. Lighting in room very harsh. Not a great place to stay if the weather is poor. The town itself seemed uninteresting. The room was simple but big enough. Nothing.
