  This is the third year we have used the Logis de la Barque as our stop over down to the Dordogne. It's well-placed for this and although fairly basic, it is comfortable and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The new undercover and secure parking facilities are excellent.   We used this 'hotel' as an overnight stop for which it is excellent. It is basically some wooden chalets arranged in parkland but they are spacious and comfortable and have covered parking.   We loved this hotel. I think a lot of the previous reviews pretty much summed it up ... the rooms are in dire need of refurbishment, facilities are basic and beds rather uncomfortable. But maybe that is the price of a bit of a character. Fresnay-sur-Sarthe is a pretty little town with quite a bit of character, but somewhat sleepy. Will defin - Lovely rustic feel to the hotel and rooms. The hotel owner speaks good English and is extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers good value dinner and lunch options. We used the hotel as an overnight stop on our journey further south and it made an excellent start to the holiday and will certainly use the hotel again next year!

  Very friendly and helpful owners, good sized rooms that were clean and very quiet, an excellent evening meal and a very reasonable cost. We used the hotel for visiting the Le Mans 24 hours race and it worked very well as it is on one of the roads that goes straight to the track. - Very welcoming staff. Able to accomodate 4 people, many only had rooms for 3. - Despite being quite an old fashioned hotel, it was clean, basic andextremely good value for money. Perfect for a first night's stopoverfrom the ferry at Caen en route to the South of France.
