The new Hump hostel is located in the southwest of Kunming downtown. The transportation is quite convenient. It's a short 10-minute drive from Grand View Park (Daguan Lou Park), and a 20-minute car ride from Green Lake Park and Kunming Zoo. Kunming Changshui International Airport can be reached in 40 minutes by car from the hostel. The new Hump is a beautiful villa with a front yard filled with lush green foliage, and various seasonal flowers. It keeps a primitive, and simple rustic lodge ambience featuring with a wooden design, and supplementing furniture. This framework provides a cosy courtyard. The new Hump includes a family room, king-bed room, double-bed room, and dormitory room. The accommodations provide various choices for families with kids, couples, or friends traveling. The ground floor is where you can indulge in many comforting western drinks, and food at the on-site café, and restaurant.

Great location! City-center and the rooftop terrace and bar is perfect with views over the scenic Jinbi Square. This is really the BEST reason to stay here. I stayed in private double with en suite bath and the room was big, clean and comfy bed. Also, a good free-standing fan is very nice touch. No A/C but don't really need Kunming is cool at night. Big windows, TV, great shower with hot water and provided shampoo and soap. Great bar and lounge area with free pool (billiards, snooker) an.

Yes, for the price, everything is minimalist but you dont need anything else, everything can be obtain nearby.. The hostel was decorated in a very cozy, country kind of feel and a big outdoor dining area to chill out.. In front of the hostel located the famous shopping street .. Dynamic Yunnan show a must watch, walking distance.. Public Transporation is excellent and cost only 1yuan each time you board.. Definitely will sta. The Hostel had everything necessary for a trip to explore the town and surrounding area, including information on public transportation, tickets, shopping, restaurants etc., and in several different languages. It was very comfortable and clean and the rooftop restaurant had great food and was very relaxing just hanging out after a day of exploring. Hump has a rooftop bar with a good rustic decoration for you to unwind after a day out. Room is basic and clean at very reasonable price. Location is excellent, with foods easily found everywhere. Staff can speak English and advise us how to travel around Kunming. The decor and style of the hostel was very unique. The place also had a nice vibe with all the guests milling around in the lobby area (because there was no free wifi access in the rooms). Staff were extremely helpful with directions and recommendations. 1.The staffs are friendly and helpful. Helped us to carry our luggage to 3rd floor on request. 2.Location: very good. 3.More suitable for young tourists. Got bar and a bit noisy. 4.Beautiful hostel and good atmosphere 5. The area around the Hump was bustling with activity.Lots of locals( with families/kids) frequent the Hump rooftop bar in addition to the residents.An upmarket "Pandora" nightclub is situated next door . I loved the overall "feel", the atmosphere, and decor. Our young sons loved the pool table and loft family accomodation room. We all loved the food and friendly staff. Great central location. Good airport pick up service. Comfortable room - nothing fancy but adequate. Food OK, but also plenty of other options nearby. Beer is overpriced at 15 Y for Tsingtao (6 or 8 Y at most restaurants in the area). Food is decent and ok if it's raining and you need food, but best to go out in Kunming to find great and better value Yunnanese food. Hump hostel located at 3rd floor. Some may find difficulty bringing up their luggage but that did not deter us from going back again. Water pressure was slightly low and free wifi was not available in the rooms. The staff were slightly poor in their communication skills or bored with answering questions on what to do/what to see ,etc. Carrying our luggage up to the 3rd floor. Quite noisy at night - karaoke bar downstairs. Kunming town is under expanding of town, so the town is dusty. Be aware that the hostel is located at local bar street, so don't expect peaceful nights. Hostel provides earplugs, and you will need them. Little Chinese food on menu. Stayed in a twin room and a dorm. The mattresses are worn out thin foam jobs. In the dorm, we were basically sleeping on a plank of wood. A bit overpriced for what you get in a private room too - better deals in nearby hotels. - A bit expensive for my room type (ensuit). Staff is really not nice :they never smile, every time we ask them something, we feel that they are very unhappy to help. We are just here to give them money. It is a pitty, because otherwise this hostel could be excellent wifi easilly overcrowded. Impossible to connect if too many people are already using it (don't hope to access to the wifi if you get back after 6pm) no chinese breakfast (how can you have american food but not even jiaozi or huntun in the morning ?). The food was the worst I've tastes. Unsatisfactory guest service.. Too little number of receptionists caused delay. Ver strong food smell on the way to the hostel. No toothbrush, No small towel I'm 4 people but give only 1 tissue. Climb the staircase. Noise from road outside and children screaming from the nearby hospital. Big blood stain on the bedsheets. Open condom bag in the room. Some members of staff were not so professional, with poor standard of English. Signs of sex tourism visible. poor reception, dark - poor lighting in the room, no heater in the room, no shower heater, noisy - there is a bar nearby noisy till wee hours in the morning, will not recommend this hotel except for location. No hot water, no internet, dirty rooms, very loud at night... my worst hostel experience in China. I had booked for 3 nights but I checked out directly after the first night, just couldn't stay there.
