convenient location close to the bus station and near the old-colonial neighbourhood, very friendly and helpful staff (like a weekend at grandmom's place), delicious home-made breakfast and overall, a nice and umpretentious place to say for a weekend. We vividly encourage you to take their recommendation of which boat you should rent and take a 5h tour sailing through the tinny island and hidden beaches in Paraty. what you read about the breakfast hall is true: it's rather small, and it fits only three tables. Also, the best breakfast goodies arte gone is you choose a late-breakfast.
We speak Portuguese,so had no communication problems. Dont expect them to speak English, but there were plenty more guest there speaking 0 Portuguese and I guess they still managed..
Location in the city is good, not the pretties part of the neighbourhood, but safe and 100m from the gorgeous colonial city.
