Situated in the heart of Yeovil, Mermaid Hotel was formerly a 15th-century coaching inn and features a spacious open-plan bar, split-level restaurant and free on-site parking.
A flat-screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities are featured in each room at The Mermaid, and most come with an en suite bathroom. Free Wi-Fi is available on request.

Great value for money, good ales, our rooms were large and clean - a little bit dated but perfectly adequate. Friendly staff (and pub customers). And it was worth paying the extra £2:50 for the cooked breakfast. We stayed to go to the football game, I would recommend booking taxis in advance if you're thinking of doing the same.
A building of character bang in the town centre of Yeovil with free secure parking. It was quiet on my midweek stay but very convenient. There was a basic cereal/toast breakfast included. It's certainly not the Ritz but I got value for money for what I paid in what is a very expensive part of the country.alle vurderinger »
Upgrade from "continental" breakfast (cereal, toast, yogurt, juice, coffee) to full english for £2.50 (plus you can help yourself to the continental anyway).
Good selection of beers & ales (two or three cask if I remember rightly).
We had a great time at the Mermaid. Michelle was amazing. She went
way out of her way to help us with everything from laundry to
programming the gps. We loved her. The Pub downstairs is fun. The
breakfast is great.

The bed/heating/helpful staff . Generally good considering the age of the building and the reasonable cost but it could have been better.
Perfect for our needs. Stayed with a dog and a toddler and it was effortless. Restaurant of good value aswell. Bed very soft.

When we told them about a broken window in the childrens room and no soap, shampoo or conditioner in the bathrooms, we were given another room immediatly and complementary breakfasts.
Reasonably priced room, clean and comfortable, included breakfast was
limited but cooked breakfast at £2.50 was good.
Its very cheap! I would stay there again at the price. Anything better than a Travelodge type establishment.

Slightly confusing up and downdale walk to the room. Beds could be a bit larger, decor needs some updating (there was evidence that this was happening in some areas) Car park can be inconvenient if arriving late/leaving early but free parking on street between 8pm 8am.
Our room was just above the outdoor/smoking area (not really a problem if you've had a few) so if you're a family at the weekend be prepared for a bit of noise late on.
Early knock from staff to ask for my car keys (blocking others in). Can't be avoided really, unless you volunteer your keys the night before.
It ain't fancy, right? If you want fancy, pay for it.

There were mo problems at this hotel.
Disorganised breakfast. No-one on site 'til 08.20 ( halfway through help-yourself breakfast). I had to enter kitchen to find a cereal bowl. No marmalade. Too late then for cooked option as we needed to leave by 08.30 .
No record of our booking but helpful staff did find us a suitable room luckily. We had great difficulty finding the car park though it was easy once we were shown , again by helpful courteous staff.

The bulb didn't work in lamp which made the room a little dark but it wasn't enough of an issue for us to make comment at the time.

Unfortunately we stayed the night of karaoke 'til late' and smoking area is immediately below most of the bedrooms. Noisy revellers til 2am!.

very narrow bathroom, toilet seat very loose, difficult to get in and out of bath due to space.

Car parking arrangement awkward, you have to give in your keys or be
prepared to move it out the way whenever needed. Not a hotel but rooms
above a pub - can get very noisy at the weekends.
Rooms had cigarette smoke drifting in and it needs a complete make over. Its not the Ritz.

Parking close to the hotel can be a problem.

It is not a continental breakfast it is cereal and cheap white bread
still in the wrapper to toast your own then had to ask for butter jam
etc as only 4 or five portions put out at any one time - at least
10/12 people in dinning room.
1) Metal fire exit to noisy at night.
2) Walls paper thin.
3) bed to soft
4) heating should be off at night.
Given the small courtyard the parking is somewhat limited.
Very difficult to drive to because of the one way system not much parking space.
No light in bathroom,mouldy ceiling in bathroom, no sheet on beds only
quilts which looked liked they needed a good wash, generally needed
upgrading, confusion on booking which they said I'd cancelled when I
hadn't not at all friendly.
The staff were very uninterested and not in the least bit helpful.
Pillows were FLAT - no body. Kettle did not work so could not make tea/coffee. Noisy in evening and very early morning 3.15am misic and loud talking laughing. Running along corridor banging doors. Room scruffy with peeling paper, cracked/broken tiles in bathroom, stained carpet, no seat to watch TV - sat on bed.
Left the hotel because of an impending karaoke evening on a Thursday until 01.30 the following morning. Should be advertised that this is happening.

as some areas were for pedestrians only.

Luck was needed to park in Princes Street.
Hotel was dark, floors & steps on different levels.
Breakfast was hurriedly made up without much enthusiasm.
Room Dirty, Sat 12th july hotest day, a heavy duvet on the bed,asked for
a sheet and was told to use duvet cover. We stayed two nights and never
got much sleep as we had seagulls outside our window, a baby and mum and
dad, they staff were more worried about them than guests. As for
breakfast if that is what its called (poor) a cooked one is now £4-95 so
when you book b/b that should be included. It was our first time
back to Yeovil in 50 years where we met so disappointing.
Well.... Ok room was dirty, rubbish in bed side unit, sink had no working plug, sheets didn't look clean smelt funny...seperate loo/shower dirty, again no plug in sink...!
Continental breakfast does not constitute a choice of 2 cearels and warm bread ( as toaster did not toast ), And orange juice that had never seen a orange !
Although extra charged cooked English was good for £2.50.
