Mousehole is a vibrant Cornish community and very traditional village. Part of its harbour dates back to 400AD. Writer Dylan Thomas described it as 'The most beautiful village in England'.

The staff were exemplary. The hotel room had a most wonderful view. The food was extremely good at all mealtimes. The evening menu gave an interesting variety if choice and the standard of presentation very high. They offered two fish options at breakfast..... and they had Marmite!!. Everything!! Myself and my husband really enjoyed are stay at the old coastguard hotel and will be going back there shortly!! I have told everyone what a brilliant hotel it is, what a lovely location it is and views where just stunning. We definitely will be re-turning.

Only that the linen for the next customer was left on the floor while waiting for the room to be checked out.Had the smallest room in the hotel but it was comfortable. Parking was abit limited. Creaky floors in the room above. The evening menu on offer when we stayed was too 'gourmet' some other choices would have been welcome. Parking was difficult.the room was very small and expected more for the price. the bathroom was very tiny and no shelving to put wash bag etc. could have been cleaner.would not stay here again. I think that the rooms are a little bit overrated. I satyed in asuperior, but the room was small. I think that cleanliness is a must andnot an optional, but the room was definitely small and overpriced to becalled a "superior".

Information about the area

Glorious gardens flourish in Cornwall's mild climate and there are several within easy travelling distance, such as Trengwainton. Outdoor activities include: walking - the coastal footpath in this area is a wonder to visitors and locals alike; surfing at Whitesands Bay at Sennen, recognised as one of Cornwall's finest surfing beaches (20 minutes away); and golf. There are several golf courses in the area, including Cape Cornwall Golf Club, worth a round for its fabulous views alone.

Mousehole is a distinct and independent village steeped in history and customs. It is one of Cornwall's finest traditional fishing ports and retains its great character despite fishing decline.

Mousehole lies on the western shores of Mount's Bay, a few miles south of Penzance. Tiers of cottages and houses climb the steep slopes above the sheltered bay of Mousehole's granite-walled harbour. Narrow streets and alleyways meander in and out of light and shade.
