Great hotel comibining the old features of 16th Century Inn with modern comfort effortlessly. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the staff first class. Lovely place, nice bar and food, roaring fire; nice and quiet. quality of customer service 5*. The room was perfect. The staff at the morning breakfast was really friendly and gentle. I really appreciated my short stay. I will surely book it again. The staff and food were excellent. After a long journey, the friendly, relaxed welcome was just what weneeded. Breakfast set us up for the next day - right through to teatime!. Great pub in lovely country setting (good for going up Box Hill the following day). Excellent breakfast. Very good value for rooms as they were on half price special offer. Room clean and warm, excellent location and great character. Staff went out of their way to be accommodating and the menu was EXCELLENT.the meals were very good, very friendly staff,. The standard of food is very high indeed first class with an excellent menue and very good restaurant staff. The 2 rooms we used, one being The Gatehouse Lodge were very good.Location, friendly staff, good breakfast. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Perphaps the beds were not as comfortable as our own - but maybe that is an age thing.. None at all - this place is a must for people coming to that area.As it is a pub as well as hotel it can be a little noisy at closing time. Radiator in the room was so noisy it kept us awake.main restarant prices were high. It's not really within easy reach from the station if you are travelling by train.Noisy plumbing - but that's the only thing that was an issue. very creaky bed, bedroom very warm, almost too warm, broken sash window , 2ndry glazing panel didn't close. Our experience of its admin was a little unfavourable. On arrival we were told that they had no record of our booking. We showed them our booking confirmation so obviously they accepted we had booked. We were offered The Lodge for 3 nights and a room in The Hotel proper for the last night. Then a couple of days later they told us that they had our reservation under the name Stephen.Need more space. Very noisy. Room was located at the end of a corridor and I was kept awake by doors slamming and footfall on the stairs. They made a mistake and put us in the wrong room, so we did not have a superior room which we had paid for. They did correct the bill in the morning and apologise but as we only stayed one night it did spoil the experience.
