The staff were very friendly and really helpful! Our TV couldn't get a signal, they tried everything. Turns out the whole village was having problems due to the Air show! The food was exceptional, perfect! Our room was very clean, but quite hot, when we mentioned this, they supplied us with a fan that solved the problem. As I said, nothing was too much trouble.....
The Wild Duck Inn was a breath of fresh air when compared with corporate lodges & hotels. Tucked away in the glorious Gloucestershire countryside it is retreat from everyday life.
A fantastic fresh cooked breakfast was an unexpected bonus.alle vurderinger »
I adore the Wild Duck Inn. It is in a magical setting, it is very homely, welcoming, comfortable, gorgeous food, comfortable big beds, quirky, friendly. I have been staying here for quite a few years on and off. I just love it.
Loved the location and how old the building is. The chap that possibly was the manager/owner was lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast. Good atmosphere.
Beautiful old building and very good pub. Food in the restaurant very good and value for money. The whole place is back in time, the modern facilities are available but the history bucks against it.
The atmosphere, the warmth and the locally grown produce on the menu. The wine list was great too. Friendly helpful staff. Log fires wonderful. Would thoroughly recommend. Dogs made very welcome too.
Very friendly staff, well organised, very comfortable beds, great (continental) breakfast, beautiful location.
Beautiful building with loads of character in a nice country setting.
Amazing dinner.
really pleasant place to stay and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great staff.
Food was excellent.
Rooms were old and full of character.
The quirkyness of the Inn and the quality of service & food.
Room was well equipped , bed comfortable , friendly staff .
The staff were fantastic and the setting was perfect.
Location, ambience, real fire, food, beer.
Warm welcome , fine ales & good food.
Friendly staff
Lovely setting.
Great Bar & log fire.
Log fires & ambiance.
Location.
Lovely location, and fantastic bar and restaurant area. Very old England style which we found perfect. Again the court yard area was fantastic and spent the evening there enjoying a bottle of wine.
Comfy bed.
The staff were great, made us
very welcome and gave wonderful service.
The food standard was excellent in a hectic period.
Both dinner and breakfast were
up to expectations.
The room was lovely overall with a gorgeous four poster bed and was very clean.
Unfortunately though the window frame did have a hole in it and was a little drafty.
Great bar with lovely ambiance. Good dinner experience, great food, with a good selection on menu. Local sourced it seemed. Service was good and with a smile.
The food was very good and the ambiance cosy. Obliging staff. Nice garden.
General atmosphere good, like the cozy ness and trophies on the wall.
Food was very good ambience of the pub bedroom style good.
attractive old inn in lovely surroundings.
Very comfortable bed.
the staff were very attentive and polite. Only because of discount was it made ok!.
area it was in.
Friendly staff.
Quaint old inn.
The building is lovely.
The fact we couldn't stay longer!.
Limited evening menu.
We probably should have complained about the room but didn't as chap was so nice!! The room was very dark and small. It was v shabby in places which could have easily been rectified - dirty light pull, dirty basin, lock didn't work, lots of chipped paint, frayed light shades.
Nothing much not to like. Used to quicker water, wifi etc but you wait as it is in keeping with the ambience.
Hot water not always available in bathroom. Over mirror light not working. All acceptable in the over all package!.
Bathroom facilities were very tired, cooked breakfast finished at 10 rather than 10:30.
Bathroom in room was slightly rundown.
no facility to open the window in room 10.
The bathroom was small and bath was small but realised the type of hotel it was (16th Century Building) it was expected.
Room was cold.
Bathroom: not practical (small bath, no shower). Should get rid of bath and have a good shower cubicle.
Other guests.
No shower in room.
Sink to high & very difficult to wash & fill a glass.
No shower.
Expensive food
No shower in en-suite.
The price of food was on the expensive side and I would have expected better quality, but it wasn't poor. The room was fine but the bathroom was tatty and needed work. Sort the bathrooms out and we would go again.
faulty flush in on suite loo.
We had 2 rooms and both needed a good dusting.
The staff were not very friendly.
The menu in the restaurant was over priced. The service we got was not acceptable. We waited an hour for someone to take our order. The staff were just standing chatting at the bar.
Cold room. Our room needed a make-over and a good deep clean. Water pressure extremely low.
Breakfast was a total let down. Staff not over happy, cleaning going on around tables. Bread...no choice (white or white or white! no excuse for this these days), jams were cheap pre packs... totally opposite to the quality of food and service the evening before.
The room was very dark and even oppressive with black lampshades, dark walls and lots of ivy over the window. The bed was saggy and if one person moved the other one was bounced about, so we did not sleep well.
the TV was beyond us to turn it on and no instructions! Disappointing. The bedroom door squeaked excessively to the point of disturbing other guests.
Rooms tatty, breakfast poor, not great selection of local real ales.
No side plates served with breakfast. No bread and butter with fresh
kippers. No plates on the breakfast table bedroom good style but let go.
Broken tiles very dusty. Asked for ironing board-was shocked at dirty
condition. Dirty walls definately needed decorating. Money taken out my
account days before visit ???.
i hesitate to criricise because there was nothing you could put your finger on except
that my wife neededa chair to climb onto the pile of mattresses and i did not think they made it crear enough that breakfast was not included in the price.although the staff were courteous we did not find a particularly warm atmosphere, sorry.
We left at 08.00, nobody around, reception locked. Unable to tune TV in room.
A good decorator very much needed,, must be 30yrs since anyone bothered to decorate. The outside smoking area, ie; was actualy a courtyard used by all residents??.
staff poor whole weekend, hotel looks like it was very expensive refurb 10 years ago and not a penny spent since,.
Cleanliness was poor with mould in bathroom.the accommodation requires a general refurbishment and clean up.
Staff appeared inattentive. It was looking a bit tired in many areas.
Room was of poor standard for the money. Food and in particular and service was very poor. would not recommend anyone to stay there. bathroom much below 2* rating.
The rooms were very dirty, small old and noisy. Too much for the price of 270 pounds for 3 days. The hotel is hard to find, and the breakfast was really bed!!! Btw they charged me all 270 pounds as soon as i booked the hotel - 3 months before my arrival.
Room had not been cleaned properly for months, smelt of damp, window sills rotting etc. Toilet in bar in similar bad state. Shame as the building could be lovely, suffering from severe neglect. Long wait for meal and service at bar too.
