Just 100 metres from the seafront, the Bow Street Runner is a friendly, traditional pub with rooms. A light continental breakfast is served to guests in their room, and there is free Wi-Fi.
Each room has a flat-screen TV/DVD, tea/coffee facilities, a fridge and a private shower room. Guests have a private entrance to the accommodation, which is above the pub.
The Bow Street Runner prides itself on its simplicity, with no food, no loud music and no games machines, just a traditional pub. Guests do have plenty of choice of restaurants, shops and night life on Western Road, 30 metres away.
In the centre of Hove, guests are just a 15-minute walk from The Lanes in central Brighton. Brighton Pier, The Royal Pavilion and the Theatre Royal are all about a mile away. On-street parking is available.

*Welcoming staff *It is above a lovely quiet pub with a friendly dog.
*Clean and compact room with very comfortable soft feather bedding and
loads of pillows. *The complimentary toiletries were a nice surprise.
*Having the Continental breakfast in the room meant we were able to

Clean comfortable room with lovely big comfortable bed. Nice modern bathroom. We were very happy with accommodation. Plenty of tea/coffee etc. Quiet small pub just around the corner from main road so no noise in our room.
Also it was good to have a separate entrance to your accommodation so no need to go through the pub bar with your bags. Lots of café/restaurants & shops around the pub.
The owners very friendly and helpful.
Sue and the staff at the Bow Street Runner could not have offered a more
friendly welcome and this is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Clean,
comfortable, warm and with breakfast in the room - couldn't have
asked for more. This would be my first port of call if I have to return
- wonderful place and heartily recommended ! Thanks again Sue, Warren
and everyone else for such a pleasant stay and hope to see you again !.
-Good to experience staying on a traditional pub as it's really
special, quite and comfortable. -The b&b runners are really friendly
and welcome us with a cup of tea :) thx for warming us up from the cold!
-The design of the room was nice, a good combination of red things that
makes me feel romantic. -The runners provide a little copies introducing
the attractions we could visit in Brighton.
Great location, excellent breakfast, and incredibly helpful staff. It may be situated above a pub but you wouldn't know. The staff and the locals were all a friendly bunch - we had great recommendations for restaurants and places to see, things to do. We would absolutely stay there again!.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. You had your own entrance and a complimentary breakfast in the room. The room was very pleaseant with a good bathroom. the rooms were in a very handy location for places to eat, getting in to Brighton and the beach.
Friendly welcome, the rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
The breakfast in the room is ample with croissant, cereal and fruit.
Very cheap permit parking at £6 a real bargain for Brighton.
We have stayed before and would defiantly stay again.
Very friendly staff and all the regulars were very friendly too. Was looked after extremely well. Would recommend to anyone that likes that personal touch and wants something different from your usual hotel. Had a lovely time and would defiantly return.
The staff were extremely friendly, and even moved cars for us to park. Room was very clean and fully stocked, with breakfast things and extra tea and bottled water! We will definitely stay there again and recommend to friends!.
The free/included wifi was great. The rooms are above the bar but there is not noise in the rooms (so best of both worlds!)
The pub has a bus stop practically opposite which made the short trip back to the station very easy.staff were so friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. The room was clean and had everything we needed. A fairly quiet area so there was no noise at night but we were still close to all the shops :) Awesome place to stay. .
Friendly staff(Warren).Sue the proprietor very nice person to talk to,
room just the job for the purpose of visit no fuss or bother just a
easy relaxing time spent there .Would certainly stay again when down
in Brighton.
Owner gave us a very warm welcome, room is lovely with plenty of space to move around and very clean. Bathroom is of a really good size. Nice breakfast. Within walking distance to city centre and close to all amenities.
The room was very clean and tidy with all of the essentials. Continental breakfast including fruit and Orange Juice in the fridge. Pub downstairs playing great music and excellent beer. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Great old school pub, not full of tourist but locals. Well appointed, even though it was a small room it was comfortable and clean. Perfectly placed for Hove, seafront and ten mins walk to Brighton centre.
It was just an overnight stay but the room, though small, was bright, clean & modern. The owner was very friendly & helpful. They offered tea/coffee making facilities too, which was a nice bonus.
I thought the stay there was terrific. There was no noise at night to annoy us and staff were friendly and helpful .It was clean with a comfortable bed and breakfast in the room was really nice.
Lovely room and facilities, very clean and tidy
Lovely breakfast provided with lovely little extras like bottles of water, fruit, hot chocolates
Staff were so friendly and welcoming.
The staff were really friendly.
The rooms were lovely and quite even though they were above a small pub.
The breakfast was great and the room was, clean and well presented.
Superb welcome- owners coud not have been more pleasant and helpful. Excellent traditional friendly pub downstairs. Basic but very nice accommodation for the price.
Friendly staff, cleanliness, comfort, quiet area whilst close to wide selection of restuarants etc. Separate entrance for guests. Would recommend this venue.
Room was clean and in good condition. Staff was very friendly. Room was cosy and above the owners' bar, but no noise and separate entrance. Breakfast was ok.
Everything from start to finish. Myself robert and my partner katie were blown away by the friendliness or everyone. Loved it and we will be back .
Friendly welcome from owners and staff.Room was clean and fresh. Close to shopping, bars and restaurants. A very enjoyable stay, will go back again.
Wonderful hospitality. Excellent location near the beach and close to the shops. Well designed small room. Continental breakfast provided in room.
Sue is a fantastic host, couldn't do enough for us, very comfortable and clean accommodation, good breakfast, great location, highly recommended.
Staff and locals were really nice. Room clean and beds really comfortable, I stay away a lot and for the money it was faultless.
Fabulously warm welcome, comfy beds and spotlessly clean. No frills, good value and near to everything Brighton has to offer.
We thought the hotel and the staff were exceptionally personable and very helpful and relaxed. Would recommend 100%.
Very friendly staff. Room was clean, modern and cosy. Breakfast in bed was a good plus. Nice cute pub downstairs.
Lovely welcome, clean well appointed rooms. Simple things done well. No frills, but all the better for that.
Good clean accommodation and friendly staff. Good value for money and location was good for getting around.
The friendliness of the staff and all the regulars in the pub. Were made to feel very much at home.
Nice hosts, comfortably furnished and clean room! Very close to the beach and the city centre.
Very friendly staff and very nice neighbourhood pub downstairs. Happy birthday Maggie!.
Everything is very good here. Nothing to complain about. Highly recommended.
Very comfortable bed, no fuss a great place to stay. Mini fridges in room.
Very comfortable room, clean with plenty of pillows! Very friendly staff.
A real little pearl. book with confidence. You will have no complaints.
We had a lovely stay at Bow Street Runner. Sue the owner was very kind.
The staff were lovely, the pub is fantastic and the location is great.
Convenient location, affordable parking, warm and welcoming hosts.
Comfortable but very small, spotlessly clean with good breakfast.
Location
Very friendly and helpful hosts
Easy to park
Breakfast.
- Very nice hosts!
- Bar downstairs
- Location
- Price.
friendly and kind stuff. very clean and comfortable.
Lovely friendly staff and owner. Comfy big bed :-).
Price, conveinience, friendly staff.
Very handy location for Sussex CCC.
Location
Own enterance
Quietness.
Nothing.
I would have liked a sachet of hot chocolate, as i don't like tea or coffee, but there was orange juice and bottled water instead.
The WiFi connected OK but ran very slowly (like a dial-up network). Very limited parking around the area.
- We were in *room 3 The sockets for chargers were all on the opposite
walls (tv and fridge side), it would be better if there's some
near to the bed (so could have mobile device nearby while charging).
-No long mirror in the room and the only mirror was in the toilet. It
isn't a good idea to make up while your partner is in shower as
the steams covers the mirror and this matters if you are in hurry! -
Too little space for putting stuffs on the table.
Nothing!.
The rooms were very small with no passing room around the bed.
Nothing!!.
Minor - and probably my personal taste (or lack of) - but a lot of cushions to deal with in a bijou room.
The only drawback about this place is that there is no lift and my husband and I had to go up two flights of stairs with our suitcases. The owner was however very much willing to help with carrying stuff up and down. She actually carried my suitcase up the stairs! We will gladly stay here another time.
Parking a pain but norton road car park s ten mibs walk and £5 per day.
Nothing really.
I liked everything about my stay.
Fire alarm going off at 0500!!!.
Nothing - could not ask for more at this price.
Location was not optimal as it was in Hove and some 2 kilometres from the train station. There were shops and restaurants nearby, however. Breakfast was in hotel room.
Having to leave to come home :(.
Street lights and noise outside made it difficult to sleep.
Twin room didn't give much room to manoeuvre.
Rainy weather... ;-).
I would have choose also the Backpackers category (because car park is expensive) but the stairs are narrow and steep. Lovely place anyway.
En-suite very compact.
It needs double or triple glazing, very noisy at night.
Room was a bit small and cramped but is is central Brighton.
Narrow stairs to the room and very steep and fittings loose on the wall
particularly in the bathroom. Also the cost was too high for the location.
Nothing.
- Toilet broken in the morning, but not really a problem for us
- Don't expect too much of the breakfast.
very small room. 20 mins from the center by walking.
Room Size
Noisy Fridge.
