I can only comment on the courtyard rooms.Warm, welcoming atmosphere, peaceful surroundings, central position in Bakewell, good service, excellent breakfast. very central to town centre and all amenaties. Staff, breakfast, general atmosphere. Very friendly. Comfortable. Very good Staff, The food was very good, and the room I stayed in across the road was very clean, everything worked in the room,. Pleasant surroundings, unusual and interesting display of working antique clocks. The service was just right and the staff very friendly and helpful. Location and friendliness of staff. Olde Worlde Charm. food ! brilliant. the room was nice although we could hear what other rooms were listening to on tv maybe the guest had the volume a little loud.Friendly Staff, central position, good food. Central position, efficient staff. 1.Central location in Bakewell. 2.Free tickets to Chatsworth House for 3 nights stay which we had not been made aware of until enquiring about discount tickets. All the staff were very friendly and helpful which is something we always like. The breakfast was very nice. The olde worlde feel comfortable country hotel good food central for town. The staff were very friendly and went out of there way to help. The central location of the Hotel.Friendly staff. The staff and the food was excellent. The food was good. breakfast. definitely in the middle of Bakewell but since there is very little hotel parking and it was very busy - this caused us a problem. The receptionist, Katy, was as good as we have encountered anywhere.Location was central and friendly reception staff. Excellent central location. Good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was nice. The hotel was in a very convenient location within Bakewell. No significant complaints, though it would have been an advantage to have been aware of exact location of car parking before we checked in.the room was uncomfortably hot being under the eaves so to speak Therefore it was difficult to sleep. Noisy room, sounded like constant running water from bedroom nxt door. Had to ring reception. Our rooms were in the courtyard annexe across the main road. It would have been nice if not all of the clocks chimed at different times the novelty soon wore off,. Shower did not drain well. Room furniture lookeda little tired. Dusty around bases of furniture.insufficient shelfing in bathroom!. matteress was a little lumpy. Bar food, small portions,. 1. Small double room did not have space to store two suitcases 2.Slow breakfast service. We did feel that overall the price of the room was a little high, given the standard of the room. It was quite an old style room which was in need of a bit of an update, ie the furnishings. There was a new bathroom suite in place which was good but just the room itself needed an update in view of the price charged. bed was a bit hard. I thought the menu for dinner could have been improved, more plainer food, with less fish and more veggie options would have been better. The fact that the Hotel is split into two.....the main part of the hotelon one side of a busy road/roundabout,and the rest (stable block) on theother side. This made crossing the road from the stable block to thehotel a dangerous manoevre especially at busy times of the day. Also wasnot keen on the fact that the hotel bar was hardly ever manned, and whenservice was required for either drinks and. The room was a bit dated and small, albeit very clean. high price dinner. We were not told that this hotel had very limited parking. (FortunatelyKaty refunded our public car park charges.). the whole hotel felt tired and lacking in atmosphere. In real need of refurbishment and a freshen up....Courtyard room was disappointing with cheap fittings and mould on shower curtain. Lots of traffic noise from A6. Also curtain was far too thin so very difficult to sleep at night as room illuminated by streetlighting and then daylight. The room was very dated. The hairdryer, radiator and other furniture in the room looked like it was from the 1970's. There were no plug sockets. We feel it was only worth half the money we paid.
