Located in the Kannawa hot-spring area, Happy Neko offers affordable Japanese-style accommodations in a traditional house built in 1934. Free Wi-Fi is available at the entire building. A one way complimentary transfer from or to JR Beppu station, JR Beppu Daigaku Station, Beppu Kotsu Center and Ferry Terminal is provided upon reservation.
The spacious rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each room comes with heating facilities, a fridge, an electric kettle and a private toilet. The property does not have bath and shower facilities.
Guests can look out at the traditional garden and use the free on-site parking. Luggage storage is offered at the front desk.
Happy Neko Inn is a 10-minute drive from JR Beppu Daigaku Train Station and Beppu Kotsu Centre Bus Stop. Beppu Jigoku Hells is a 10-minute walk and Beppu Bay is a 10-minute drive away.

The hotel ower - Bibo, is really really nice and providing good services in free picking up us to his hotel. He also well prepared the Beppu sightseeing information, especially the surrounding restaurants, supermarket, onsens, and the famous Beppu 8 Jijukou (sightseeing hells onsens) to us. His English is very well which is very helpful for us to get the sightseeing directions. Guests are highly recommended to ask for his free pick-up service as it is quite difficult with your luggage to go . alle vurderinger »
We had an amazing time in this beautifully laid out traditional Kyushu home. The entire second floor was made available to us, and we certainly did not require the use of shower facilities since onsens of a a phenomenal calibre are a few minutes away. The quality of the welcome was second to none, and that included an extremely convenient pick up and drop off from/to the train station and thorough overview of Beppu and its attractions from friendly owner/operator Bibo. Highly recommended.
Our host collected and returned us to the JR Station. He was a mine of information, so helpful every way. The rooms were very spacious and airy and very well appointed. Kitchen facilities, washing machine, sink, toilet. No bathroom is needed because you have a choice of very clean traditional onsens close at hand which beat any bathroom hands down. Supermarket, restaurants, Post Office, amazing thermal areas all nearby. We'd go back tomorrow.
The owner, Bibo, was just perfect. He picked us up from the station,
gave us excellent introduction to the Kannawa area, and gave us good
tips where to go and when. We had the two person small apartment, which
was just perfect, with own kitchen and even a laundry machine.
Don't worry about the shower missing. The closest onsen is just two
minutes away, costs 100yen, and is a great example of traditional,
centuries old onsens.
This was my second stay in Happy Neko and besides the excellent location
in the traditional district where many types of baths are located, the
friends I was with appreciated especially the cosy atmosphere of this
family house and the time the owner devoted to us in order to explain
all possibilities for spending free time in Beppu and patiently
answering our questions on life in Japan in general. Many thanks!.

Location cannot be better, it's walking distance from Onsen and super market and other turistic atractions
Bipo is very gentle and ready to help at any time, he can pick you up at bus or train station.
I love it! The owner, Bibo picked us up from the station, gave us excellent and very detailed introduction to the area. The small apartment for us two was great, with own kitchen and a laundary machine. Next to a supermarket. Plan to travel to Beppu again and definitely will choose here again!.
Bipo was very friendly and helpful including transporting us to and from Beppu station. The Japanese style studio apartment we had was well equipped, spacious and very clean. Location was excellent - a block away from a very good supermarket, close to onsens and restaurants.
The host was absolutely friendly and given us a lot of tips of the town. No shower was actually a good thing for us so that we could experience the onsen nearby! The place was spacious and spotlessly clean. Recommend to anyone who wants to live like a local!.
Room with small living hall, fridge, washing machine, microwave oven, kitchen sink. Walking distance (even with kids) to lots of onsen, restaurants, supermarket... Should we come to Beppu, this will be our stay :).
Bibo-san was extremely helpful in picking us up from station and explaining to us the lay of the area. Ryokan is walking distance from several bath houses, restaurants and a big supermarket!.
The place is very clean, and the location is great--right next to a ton
of great Kannawa onsens.
The owner is also very friendly, and gave us a ride to the bus station after we checked out.
We had the floor to our selves and our kids enjoyed the space. It was clean and nice. It was near a lot of hot springs and very relaxed.

The beds were too thin. Felt like we were sleeping on the wooden floor.
The town is much smaller than we thought so we kept getting lost. Hard
to figure out how far away things are at first.
A bit far from the station but owner drove us to station.
