We requested a bigger room and we were kindly given one - thanks to the very nice, cheerful and helpful lady who was at the front desk. There was also this guy at the front desk when we checked in and he was pretty grumpy looking and it seems like he's doing us a favour whenever we ask questions. We never saw him smile and we have no idea why this

hotel we've met Shiva from perfecttaxiservice.com, who showed us
most of city attractions - temples, parks, restaurants, market places.

All the staff without exception were extrimely attentive and polite. All questions were answered and all requests met. Despite not so oppulent external appearance, the entire hotel's interior was magical, enstilling harmony and peace. Very comfortable rooms and a good choice of restaurants. The owner, Aditya, was extremely helpful - he suggested places to go around town, helped us book a day trip to the Taj Mahal, and arranged rides to and from the airport.
There were free mangoes and bottled water in the communal fridge.
The A/C in our room proved crucial for surviving the Delhi summer heat.
Defence Colony is apparently one of the safer neighborhoods in Delhi. We didn't run into any trouble while we were there. The place is gated and guarded. There is a nice park nearby.

If you can afford 70usd instead of 30 at carol bang or main bazar - do it and Delhi will look to you more friendly.
