  From the moment that we drove down through the city streets to City Center Hotel, we knew that the location was just right on. We were near the majority of restaurants, museums & galleries and shopping. Everything was in walking distance. The staff was very helpful in all aspects that a visitor to Iceland would expect.   We were a family group: Grandpa, Grandma, Daughter, grandsons ages 11, 12. We needed affordable lodging near shopping and public transportation. Downtown Reykjavik Apartments (dra) met and exceeded our requirements. The dra is just 2 blocks from one of the main bus stations in Reykjavik. From that point, one can travel anywhere in the City. The main shopping/walking street begins at the bus station and extends a number - We booked the smallest and cheapest available room (the double studio). When we arrived, finding our keys and room was very easy. The room was small but very clean - the bedding smelt very fresh. We also saw a family studio which was bigger and again very clean and pleasant. I asked to upgrade our room as I wanted a bit more space (the prices are very reasonable and I was happy to pay more). However when the owner and Thora heard it was the last leg of our honeymoon, they upgraded us to a 3 bed

  The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful, and they make you feel right at home. The facilities were great too (fully-equipped kitchen, hot showers with tub, and free laundry facilities). They briefly explained where to go near the guesthouse and in the city center when I first arrived. They clean the house frequently so it's clean and tidy. Generally, I think if you travel alone and don't want to cram into a 16-bed dorm, it's a good place to stay with abundant space and good host to talk with.
