We booked the smallest and cheapest available room (the double studio). When we arrived, finding our keys and room was very easy.
The room was small but very clean - the bedding smelt very fresh. We also saw a family studio which was bigger and again very clean and pleasant.
I asked to upgrade our room as I wanted a bit more space (the prices are very reasonable and I was happy to pay more). However when the owner and Thora heard it was the last leg of our honeymoon, they upgraded us to a 3 bed

We stayed in the Vatnsstigur 11 building, which is perfectly located just off the main street Laugevegur - close to everything, but not disturbed by nightlife at all. The interior of the house is very nice, the shared areas as well as guests' rooms are furnished with taste. 1 bathroom for 2 rooms (not for the whole guesthouse). What is particularly remarkable about the place is that nearby there is a modern art sculptures garden.

The staff are really nice! They briefly explained where to go near the
guesthouse and in the city center when I first arrived. They clean the
house frequently so it's clean and tidy. They are keen to provide
some local tips like music and the local stores. Generally, I think if
you travel alone and don't want to cram into a 16-bed dorm, it's
a good place to stay with abundant space and good host to talk with.

We rented the studio apartment for a week. We were making a first visit to the University. Innkeeper Thorri was very helpful and kind. As we walked around Reykjavik, we never saw a better value for this level of amenities and character. We love staying in historic and cultured homes like Gastafell. The 1 bedroom apartment was fully equipped and in a wonderful quiet location but literally minutes from everything. Breakfast was excellent.

Very central,side street off main shopping street! Beds very comfy had 2 x twin bed rooms,lounge,kitchen,bathroom.
Arrived early about 11am,luckily the owner had cleaned our 2 bed apartment and it was ready.
Went to the bonus supermarket round the corner to get milk/bread etc.
