Business meeting i Pegnitz. This hotel needs to be completly refurbished. Disastrous painting and used dirty carpets. Poor and expensive breakfast (16 Euros). Prices: 7 Euros for an Orange Juice (same as breakfast orange juice).

Information about the area

In the surrounding area you find 42 golf courses, the closest of which is 10 kilometres away.

The Franconian Switzerland is one of Germany's most diverse regions. Clear brooks full of trout meander through idyllic valley meadows before turning into deep rock crevices. The mighty dolomite walls (60-80 metres high) make the area a paradise for climbers.

Small villages nestle in the valleys and give off the aroma of homemade schnaps in the autumn. The roads here are dotted with medieval towns with castles, grand timber-framed buildings and Franconian Baroque churches.

A 4,000-kilometre network of hiking trails leads you to wonderful natural monuments such as the stalactite caves in Pottenstein and Streitberg, to eluvial caves, lookout towers, castles, ruins and to ancient Gerichtslinde ("court linden") and Tanzlinde ("dance linden") trees.

Travelling information

Exit the A9 motorway at Pegnitz and then continue towards Pegnitz for 4.5 kilometres. As you enter the town, go straight ahead at the roundabout and continue past the Aral petrol station. After the second set of pedestrian lights turn left into the car park.
