C'est magnifique!!! This is the second best place that I have ever stayed in the world, second only to the Sheiks palace in Dubai. The restoration of this beautiful old colonial building, is done to such a high degree as to bring a tear to your eye, and give you a sense of belonging from the very first minute you walk through the door. Eric and Edy were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much for them, and the breakfast and it's setting was out of this world, with views of this great city, surpas.

We could not have a higher opinion of Villa Almirante. It was superb from beginning to end. The venue itself is nestled in beautiful greenery with a wonderful swimming pool and exquisite and unique interior design. The owner has hand-painted murals and designs on the main rooms which are classicly-inspired but have a cool quirky edge - almost like street art. He was also expcetionally friendly and helpful. No favour was too much and he personally drover us to dinner one evening when our taxi wa. A fantastic and charming old residence that has been beautifully restored. The guys there are extremely friendly and helpful too. One of the guys arranged a friend of theirs to drive us to 3 separate banks to find an ATM so we could get some dinner somewhere (ATMs in Santa Teresa are not easy to find!) There are some nice restaurants nearby in Santa Teresa and some great views of parts of the city. Beautifullz renovated old colonial house owned by a French couple who speaks perfect english, french and portugese. Eric gave us suggestions on where to eat, what to do/see. He was very helpful. The house is next to a national park, we had monkeys visiting us during breakfasts. They are very cute. A feature you do not find in any other hotels. Highly recommended. Location in the heart of Rio but out of the heat, the views over the city, the style and spirit of the mansion, the spaces inside and outside, the hospitality of the owners, the familiar athmosphere, breakfasts at the terrace, the huge pool and so many more details. Thanks Eric and Edy and ?. beautiful property with classic furnishings, peaceful, great breakfasts, free wi-fi and well connected - bus stops right outside and only 2.75 reals into Santa teresa or Lapa. nice pool and sunbathing terrace in foothills with great veiws. Host and staff were great, unique location and facility, very relaxing, lovely pool, patio, and veranda, breakfast was vegan friendly, abundant wildlife was a special treat, beautiful grounds and gardens.... A very special place. Villa Almirante is not just another hotel- it is an experience! The amazing buildind, the atmosphere, the special hosts Erik and Edi, made our trip to Rio something diferent and exiting.donwt miss it. very nice mansion with big rooms, lot of lihgt, nice furniture, great terace with nice view to the city, hospitality of owner Eric ! I kindly recommended!. Beautiful house managed and run by a great owner. You must stay here if you visit Rio. Fantastic!. The owners were wonderfull, the place is amazing and you don't feel like you are in a big city. Fantastic hotel with very nice owners. An extraordinary experience. Nothing not to like!!. It is an old building that has been refurbed, so certain feautures are not what you expect for a regular hotel. That being said, we thought it added to the charm. Santa Teresa is a lovely spot but it is a little further away from the beaches. Taxis were around 20-25 real each way. Do write to the owner to ask directions how to get there. It is not very easy to drive there the first time. but if you follow the owner`s advice, then you will find it without problem. nothing. Things to consider Lots of steps Transportation can be challenging ( this will improve when cable car is restarted) Shared bathrooms might be an issue for some Some street noise.
