Lovely welcome from a host who could not have been more accommodating. Thanks to Benoit we were able to watch the Last Post ceremony from very close quarters. His help was very much appreciated.
The apartment has unbelievable views of the Menin Gate. We were able to gaze out at it from sunrise to sunset. This and Benoit's enthusiam and position within the Last Post association mean that a stay at Menin Gate house is a holiday with a difference.

We stayed at Menin Gate House for 4 nights and could not believe how
amazing this place is, Benny meet us on the first night and gave us
prime position during the Menin Gate service and it was something we
will never forget. We ddid nearly all of the battlefields and memorials
and they are all so handy from this location. The rooms are decorated in
honour of our troops that paid the ultimate sacrifice and its people
like Benny that will never let anyone forget. I can highly recommend
this place.
Amazing accommodation with views over The Menin Gate, perfect location for The centre of Ypres and within minutes of all the local history (WW1 being most pertinent for our trip). The owner is the Chairman of The Last Post association and gave us VIP access to this most amazing of memorial tributes. Very knowledgable about all things WW1 and the surrounding area, ensuring our stay was of the finest experience. The Menin Gate House cannot come more highly recommended by the three of us that stay.
The accommodation was wonderfully located for the Menin Gate and the centre of Ieper. The building was part of the history and was beautifully presented inside with all facilities catered for. Parking was easy and there were plenty of places to breakfast. The host was extremely welcoming and helpful and certainly not intrusive. We would recommend this accommodation to anyone.
One should not consider staying anywhere else if visiting Ypres for the Menin Gate. Benoit was charm personified and even allowed my father to read the exhortation during the last post ceremony. As we were visiting France to trace my Grandfathers routes this could not have been more welcome and fitting a finale. Views of the gate out of the house itself are stunning.
Benoit the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The apartment was excellent and well appointed with the views of the Menin Gate just amazing. We would gladly recommend the Menin Gate House for your stay in Ypres. The stairs to the top room may prove difficult for older folk or anyone not stable on their feet.
The owner was very helpful, the location was unparrelled for access to the Menin gate ( from the top floor of our room you looked at the Menin gate 30 ft away!)
The city of Ypres (Ieper) is very beautiful with some beautiful architechure & amazing access to the historical military sites.

Apartment was beautiful and modern while at the same time full of history with many artefacts from the First World War. Situated next to the Menin Gate where the last post is sounded every evening. So sad that we could only stay one night, would have happily stayed for weeks.
The owner welcomed us, the local people are very friendly and helpful.
The house was excellent everything that was promised with the best
location in Ypres. A great base for investigating the Great War and the
town center is only a short walk with great restaurants.
Meningate House is perfect for Ypres (Leper) and the WWI sites. It is 2 minutes walk to the middle of town! The owner is so knowlegeable about the area. He will take you to the Meningate Ceremony and will advise about the WWI places.
Its closeness to Menin Gate was second to none which was My main reason for staying there. The information given by the owner was excellent. The facilities were of a high standard. Very friendly and would highly recommend.

We would have liked a toilet facility on the top (3rd) floor but understand that this is not possible due to the nature of the building. The stairs need to be negotiated in good light.
Some of the cutlery was not quite as clean as expected. This was a surprise given the spotless nature of the rest of the apartment.

The 2 bedroom flat uses a communal stairs, not private. To go from the living/kitchen downstairs to the bedrooms and toilet upstairs you take the communal stairs hall used by anyone staying in the 1 bedroom flat. The stairs is not private and anyone can use the toilet by our bedrooms! Maybe it should have a little sign 'for guests of flat 1 only'. Also, from the twin room, you go into the communal hallway to use the toilet. So in the night, take a robe!.
For some the stairs would be a problem however this would only limit a few people.
