We loved our stay at Hotel Charles. The sitting area downstairs was warm and comfortable, a perfect place to sit and talk, read, drink etc. and our dinner in the restaurant was fantastic! Our room was well appointed and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Contemporary styling and furniture. Room and corridors felt very spacious due to high ceilings. Great location close to cafes and Launceston centre. Also very near to heritage area of East Launceston. Excellent online deal booked at short notice.

Explanation given was that other guests download movies which takes up bandwith and slows system. Surely the hotel can manage this with a limit on downloads so the rest of us can check our email and read the online news. All expectations were more than met, so did not experience anything that we did not like. The large orange chair that was difficult to move and impeded my husbands progress to the right side of the bed. Nothing. There was nothing that we didn't like. The service at check-in was not helpful, and created the impression of a cheap hotel offering minimalist service. It did not create a good, or welcoming, impression. Nothing. I was charged considerabley more than the book.com quote when the booking was made. Probably wouldn`t stay there again because of that. Poor quality tv. The beds were really soft. We were told that the maintenance staff would be up in our room in 5 min but he didn't show up until over 20 min later to fix a twitchy light. The internet was very spotty. And would range between having several bars to none at all. no complaints. The a/c duct above the bed blew cold air down whilst sleeping irrespective of whether the a/c was on or off. No bath. Not a lot of room for luggage. The staff on the front desk were brisk and robot like with the check in and check out process. Room service menu - eg. toasted sandwich (didn't realise it was served with side salad & chips - same with club sandwich). Orange chair was very hard to move. too big. Didn't eat at restaurant for dinner because limited vegetarian options. Place seemed a little sterile, not much warmth in the place (staff were warm, I'm referring to the layout). Nothing really. Average breakfast ??. there is only one chair to sit down at counter to eat when getting room service, the other chair is to big and not suitable. no gymnasium on site a little far to walk from shops. Didn't like the pillows as much. room was too light in the morning,due to inadequate window curtains. we were sorry we went out to dine - should have stayed in, we are sure it would have been much better food than what we had. Staff not very friendly. Please add extra coffee pods.
