The hotel is situated on Mountain Road across from a recreational bike / walking path and within easy access to restaurants, shops and highways in the area. Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. As a guest, we had a choice of just about every item on the regular breakfast menu. Our upgraded room was clean, had high ceilings, a jacuzzi tub and a big king sized bed. While it had some shortcomings, our overall rating is one of highly recommended to anyone seeking clean and budget-fri.

The breakfast each morning was amazing though very busy and alittle slow to get. The staff was very friendly and helped us with ideas of where to eat, what to do, and directions. Location was excellent as well. In walking distance of plenty of restaurants and across the street from the recreation path. Every thing else we did in Stowe and Waterbury was a short dri. From the moment we've arrived, Randy the owner has been amazing. First of all he upgraded our room to the best they have just because we rode our motorcycle there (he's a biker too:). The place is great, very cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was included and it was a full breakfast(eggs, potatoes, bacon, orange juice, you name it). The staff was also great, accommodating and friendly. Amazing place, people and location. The Gables Inn provides a relaxing atmosphere and gracious host. The facilities are very clean and the water is hot. Free WiFi. Known for great breakfasts, the breakfasts are included if one is a guest, but many people not staying at the Gables Inn also came for the great breakfast. We appreciated the very good coffee and juice selection as well. The hostess is wonderful. It's a big old house, with lots of character.The room was small but clean and tastefully decorated. The price is great considering the area and includes a large breakfast. Laid back atmosphere. There's a 5.5 mile bike/walking path right across the street. Close to the village. Friendliness of the owner/operator who goes behind the call of duty. Quality of the facilities despite the size of some of the rooms. Great quality of the breakfast served in the morning. Definitely a keeper where we will go back and that we will strongly recommend. The owner was fantastic, friendly, keen to share local knowledge and ensure guests had a great time in Stowe. He also made the living room the most comfortable lovely place to hang out with other guests and him. Could not recommend the place any more!. They were very accommodating to our family and we had a very good experience staying at the inn. Good value compared to other lodging in Stowe if you are not looking for luxury. The Inn is animal friendly. Breakfast was great and enjoyed by the locals. Staff was very attentive. Staff were fantastic and most helpful - over and beyond what I expected. I liked the price and I know that the breakfast at that price is a big plus. my husband's food was good but my pancakes tasted like bacon...(must have been made in the same frying pan?) We were upgraded to a larger room after booking online. Breakfasts were awesome. Nothing, very disappointed. The inn is in need of some upgrading and maintenance, such as exterior paint, slippery-when-wet wooden steps and walks, a faded sign and disability-unfriendly access points to the main building, cabins and rooms. Some of the interior fixtures, such as mattresses and jacuzzi tubs, are showing their age. Wi-Fi is only available in common areas, which was a bit inconvenient. However, the price, location and very friendly staff more than compensated for those minor shortcomings. The pool was in rough shape (looked green and unkept). Obvoiusly no one was swimming. Our particular room did not have a tv, which was not a problem for us but might be for others. There was really nothing I didn't like. Really nothing. Missing a small TV or Radio In room. For some unclear reason portion of fruit juice with breakfast is minute. The pool was green during our visit but management was working on the problem. That I couldn't stay there forever. lots of traffic noise, no TV in room. Heavy road noise that kept us awake most of the night. Old installations (but well maintained). No negatives at all. We will be back. I don't like being told breakfast is included and you can order anything on the menu. Then after you've eaten they tell you there is a sur-charge for your meal. I just find that will keep me from coming back or recommending this Inn. The toilet handle in room1. long distance to connect to the business center. The Inn is a bit dated. Many things require a facelift and/or replacing or a good scrubbing. Our bed was very firm with old flat pillows. There was only one blanket/quilt which doubled as a bed spread. No extra pillows. The TV was very small and could not be seen well from the bed. The room, although spacious, was not luxurious but adequate. Room and common areas are dated and need sprucing up. Common area tv room inmain house had a musty odor . Room quality - decor needs updating and the room was not clean - thick layer of dust on neadboard. the room was ok, but it was not what I expected so I was disappointed. First time I disagree with the reviews I have read. Will not return there. Very shabby Inn. In need of cleaning and updating. bed was like a board, room was a little box with no TV. Had to watch tv in lobby with no air conditioning.bath too small & couldn't use the mirror without closing the door. Porch steps were broken. I had to step out the door off to the side. it was a bit difficult to see the steps at the entrance in the rain at night. Some sort of reflective material would be helpful. No hair dryer in th room. Carpet in our room was very dirty. Bathroom was so tiny the sink look something a little kid would use. Whole place was dark and smelled like cooked cabbage.
