  A real 5-star experience. The hotel excels at every opportunity. Staff are courteous and friendly. The building is amazing, the decor very pleasing. Our room was huge with everything we could need. So glad we chose to dine in the restaurant and relax after dinner in the Whisky Room where service and selection were excellent. York is a wonderful pla - The staff were friendly,helpful,and totally professional.We were mother,daughter and grandaughter coming together in grandaughters university town to celebrate my daughter's 50th. Birthday.......We could not have chosen better!We enjoyed the Jacuzzi and pool together,had lovely cocktails in the bar,followed by a delicious dinner in the elegant dining room.All the staff made our stay extra special.......In the morning I was able to make a cafetiere of fresh coffee,this was much appreciated,a fiv

  The whole trip was fantastic. We arrived late Thursday evening and there was someone there to check us in and show us to our rooms. The room was beautiful, old charm mixed with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was superb, so nice to have a hot choice of breakfast freshly cooked for you in the morning. Breakfast room looked out across the beautiful... wat mensen zeggen » gardens where we also enjoyed some drinks later in the afternoon. Couldn't fault the place - can't wait to go back! - The building and room were very impressive. There was a relaxed atmosphere and I felt like I was experiencing a little bit of luxury whilst staying there. Breakfast was a delight. When we arrived we were shown round and given a complimentary cup of tea. I think u get cookies too as several people saidvthey were coming altho we never got any. But we weren't fussed and I think that this was a wonderful touch.

  Loved the comfortable mix of modern and traditional; state of the art bedroom with giant flat screen, but with deep traditional Victorian style bath. Comfortable furnishings. Superb modern walk in shower and appreciated the double sinks. Like the feel of the hotel, that it was a bit of a 'warren', not clinical corridors with endless doors. Helpful staff. - The bed linen and towels are lovely, very luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel is close to the city centre, around a 10- 15 minute scenic walk. There are restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. Walking distance to the train if minimal, easy to manage luggage. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, it is very beautiful.

  Het ligt in het centrum van York - We liked everything - cleanliness, well appointed rooms, daily clean and beautiful quality of the towels, superb toiletries in bathroom. Delightful staff in dining room and reception. Excellent breakfasts, and in particular the smoked haddock with lemon and herb butter - yummy! short and easy access to all that... wat mensen zeggen » the city has to offer. - The food is great. with friendly staff. They are busy but if you grab their attention they will be happy to help. The beer . They have ale of the week at a really good price. The warmth and atmosphere of this very old Inn which still uses gas light. Food great. Good central location.
