  A real 5-star experience. The hotel excels at every opportunity. Staff are courteous and friendly. The building is amazing, the decor very pleasing. Our room was huge with everything we could need. So glad we chose to dine in the restaurant and relax after dinner in the Whisky Room where service and selection were excellent.   The whole trip was fantastic. We arrived late Thursday evening and there was someone there to check us in and show us to our rooms. The room was beautiful, old charm mixed with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was superb, so nice to have a hot choice of breakfast freshly cooked for you in the morning. Breakfast room looked out across the beautiful... wat mensen zeggen » gardens where we also enjoyed some drinks later in the afternoon. Couldn't fault the place - can't wait to go back! - The building and room were very impressive. There was a relaxed atmosphere and I felt like I was experiencing a little bit of luxury whilst staying there. Breakfast was a delight. When we arrived we were shown round and given a complimentary cup of tea. I think u get cookies too as several people saidvthey were coming altho we never got any. But we weren't fussed and I think that this was a wonderful touch.

I WOULD DEFINATELY GO TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN, IT HAD EVERYTHING, CLEANLINESS, GOOD BREAKFAST AND EASY ACCESS TO THE CENTRE OF YORK, WELL DONE TO ALL THE STAFF - The Groves is set in a tranquil location yet just 10 mins from Minster and shops. Parking is free and plentiful. The rooms have lots of thoughtful extras. They have a bar and full breakfasdt is included.

The hotel is close to the city centre, around a 10- 15 minute scenic walk. There are restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. Walking distance to the train if minimal, easy to manage luggage. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, it is very beautiful.

The bookingout time of 12 noon was realistic and breakfast between 7 and 11 wascertainly more civilised than some hotels.   The pool was superb, good hearty breakfast(full English), only a 20 min walk into town and a hotel with free parking(unusual for York). Nice standard 2 star hotel which was comfortable with every thing working. Really good restaurant too.
