Freindly staff and landlord, great selection and quality of food. Evening meal was especially good. i loved the for poster bed, made my vacation.room clean and comfortable. Accommodating staff. Staff v. courteous and helpful. Provision of extra heater(v. welcome as it snowed during our stay), iron and ironing board. We were only diners on Saturday evening but never felt hurried and meal was v. good. Previous reviews of hotel (2007 early 2008) were misleading as it was rated poor with poor service and not very clean. Glad we went with later reviews as it was clean and food was v.good. alle beoordelingen »
The unfailing kindness and helpfulness of all the staff. Their cheerful willingness to do all they could for me, even after I'd officially checked out, went far beyond what I might have expected. The staff were very helpfull, nothing was to much trouble. Food was very good and excellant value. Our room was spacious with an additional room to use. The selectionat breakfast was excellent and the majority of staff professionaland friendly.Quiet, provided what I needed. Comfortable room, dinner very good. friendliness. Generally good, disappointing that one could not get breakfast until after 8am. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was well presented.very central. staff very pleasant and helpful. Location - staff were helpful. Friendly staff and an informal atmosphere. It provided a good base to use during the day. Interesting historic building in an impressive setting.Room was clean and comfortable. Attened a wedding. Friendly staff. A lovely old building, full of character. The beds were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff were very approachable and helpful. Free Internet access. The staff were helpful. The rooms were a good size. The size of the room and bed.It was nice to have a room that was actually outside of the hotel. breakfast decent. Very squeaky bathroom door!. Only negative factor was no heating in bathroom and nowhere to hang towels. The hotel is in an old building, and my room creaked a lot at night. On the Sunday the usual member of staff did not turn up and the femalewho was in charge of the breakfasts was very stressed and abrupt with myhusband and myself.A warmer reception on arrival would have been good, staff otherwise very helpful and friendly. Shower (in top floor room) was very slow. Otherwise nothing negative to say. Room very cold on arrival. No heating on and it took a long while to warm the room using the electric heater. No (attached) towel rail in the bathroom and no heating.heating was not on all of the time and room was cold during night. It was a surprise to find that the big, lovely top floor room had no shower. We changed to a room with a shower but the bathrooms need modernising. The character of the place changed somewhat after 11pm on a Saturday night when it appeared to become very popular as a late night drinking venue. Some noise from smokers outside the front door after this time. Bar service could do with some tightening up. We had requested a specific room through the website, but that information had not been passed on to the hotel itself, and that room was unavailable when we checked in (despite us booking well in advance to make sure we got our choice). Room needed maitenance and decoration. Old sash windows, whilst charming, rattled in the wind and had little sound proofing qualties. Being kept awake until the early hours by a family party in the hotel. The travel cot that was provided was broken, there were large damp patches in the bedroom and it was a cold room. The hotel is tired. Our bathroom had not been cleaned well and there was glass on the floor! We faced the front and Fri/Sat night was extremely noisy(from the bar beneath) until very late. Very pricey for an elevated BandB. The hotel has suffered a very poor and tasteless refurbishment. The bathroom wasn't heated unless you wedged the door open into the bedroom., and there was no towel rail, Wehad to ask for soap. The staff were quite rude and abrupt and the room was dirty. heating wasn't working in our room, had to ask to be moved ( which they did do without complaint) ;fairly poor state of decoration in the rooms (peeling wallpaper in the corners etc).
