Very clean and recently refurbished. Staff veryt friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 days and had our Dinner in the hotel on both days. (there is no where else to eat in the immdiate vicinity. Lovely country inn with a very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The public areas have a local, historic feel e.g. the downstairs bar still has the old stalls from horse drawn days; charming. The staff are friendly and efficient, the bar has a great selection of local beers and ales and the food is superb. Our room, while small, was extremely well appointed and comfortable, excellent en suite facilities with a super powerful shower, bliss.

We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!).
Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean.

A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

shower/bathroom, comfortable bed, ample wardrobe/drawer space

Location excellent..in a quiet valley about 5 km from Keswick, a
tourist center. No other buildings around except for the Inn. I could
hike into spectacularly rough mountains in 5 minutes by foot from the
inn. Nice log fire, lovely and warm in the rooms. Each room is slightly
different. The one known as Causey Pike has massive windows towards the
mountains. Food was fine, and breakfasts were hearty with everything
one could think of.

As a cycling group, several of us arrived late but they kept the kitchen open late to feed us which really was appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up well for our second day of cycling! Lovely place with friendly staff.

A most charming inn set in a beautiful location overlooking Skiddaw. The staff were exceptionally friendly and as for the food - what can we say but 5 Star with emphasis on top quality local produce cooked with flair and presented with style. The breakfasts were exceptional especially the smoked haddock. The hotel was a welcome sight in a beautiful location after a 2 hour drive from the Midlands. It provides an excellent base for touring the south lakes area, and access on to the coastline. The hotel provides great food (evening and breakfast), comfortable rooms and friendly welcoming staff. As a family of 4, we had an entertaining evening in the pub with a nice meal. Family friendly and easy to find. Would highly recommend.

I enjoyed my stay very much and the staff were friendly, although the room was small (single) it was clean and comfortable. The meal was lovely alot of food on the platealong with a nice friendly atmosphere in the bar. - i really enjoyed my stay at the hotel and its good value for the money. I recommond it very much.
