My double room for single occupancy was fine but compact, quiet and well equipped, with lots of tea & coffee. Shower room also compact but adequate with a good shower, fluffy towels and real soap. Excellent breakfast, freshly prepared from quality ingredients. Convenient location a few minutes walk from station and adjacent to the recently renovated promenade, perfect for an evening stroll. The hotel's prices are unbeatable. alle beoordelingen »
The room and en suite were more than adequate for my needs. The staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best laid out breakfast I have had in a long time. It was nice to have my cooked breakfast brought to me. Many "posh" hotels have breakfast buffets these days.I hope the Claxton sticks with its personal service.
Mum and I loved our stay. We were in Room 5, which was really spacious, and had a fab view. The beds were very very comfortable...just what you need after a long drive up. Our breakfast was delicious. Well cooked, well served, and very good value. A definite must for a no stress, no hassle stay. Thank you...
This Hotel was good for me because I was traveling alone and I was able to stay in a single room which made the price more economical. The hotel is on the front so it is just a walk across the road to the sea front. Parking was a available. It suited all of my needs. I would stay there again.
The staff were extremely helpful in helping me with an incident, not relating to the hotel, when I was staying there. The owners and staff went out of their way to make sure that the matter was resolved with minimum stress to myself as I was attending a funeral and was upset as it was.
Although my single room was small it was comfortable and had all I needed. The wifi worked very well (not always the case as I travel around a lot) and the staff were great. Breakfast was served promptly and food was good. Good value for a business trip.
Room very clean, bed comfortable. clean shower. Evening home cooked meal was delicious. Breakfast 1st class, good bacon and egg. Ample parking. Staff efficient friendly but not intrusive. This is a great place to stay and will use regularly.
Friendly staff, room & facilities satisfactory, food excellent and breakfast served from 7.00 am allowing early start to the day.
On street parking nearby restricted but sufficient available unrestricted from 6.00 pm to 8.00 am.
The hotel was in a good location - overlooking the sea and near all shops, bars etc. A really comfy room which was lovely and warm, the weather being freezing! Breakfasts were well-cooked and a good size.Everything was great!.
The staff were extremely courteous, friendly and helpful. The food (both breakfast and evening meal) was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. The sea view was exceptional and the location peaceful.
the staff were very friendly and helpful.the rooms were clean though a tad dowdy but adequate with comfy beds, more hanging space needed,
breakfast excellent, all in all very good.we were two elderly sisters.
good place to stay if visiting local attractions like Whitby and Saltburn. clean rooms and friendly staff. A good sized breakfast in the morning. Straight across from the beach. value for money.
The Staff were second to none, the food was as good as you would get anywhere, the rooms were clean, and all the staff made our stay enjoyable and we will return next year some time.
Friendly Staff. Room very clean and comfortable. Easy access to the centre of Redcar. Good road system to access areas to the north, i.e. M'Bro, Stockton, Newcastle etc.
Clean towels daily. Sea View. Good breakfast on 2nd morning. Beds in the twin bedroom were acceptable despite the sheets not fitting the mattress on one of them.
friendly staff, great service, good food, safe place for a woman travelling alone, great they are dog friendly and even provide her with breakfast - thank you.
Super friendly staff, excellent location, extremely good value for money and a real family run hotel....not a corporate brand in sight ...most accomodating!.

The room was very clean & tidy.
The breakfast was good.
Good value friendly hotel, perfect for me when I stayed in town for a family party. Nice clean room, with comfortable bed, and friendly staff.
Spotlessly clean warm room. Comfy bed. Snuggly duvet. Great breakfast.
Staff were extremely obliging with nothing too much trouble for them.
The staff were very friendly, we had a beach view, off road parking, plenty of choice for breakfast, Overall a really good experience.
The hotel was warm, comfortable, very well located for the shops beach and transport. It is also very good that they welcome pets.
Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Great value for money and will be booking at Claxton next time we are in the area.

friendly helpfull staff, good breakfast.
I like the good price and the staff.
fab staff. location,and price.
Very friendly, and helpful.
Excellent place to stay.
Very friendly people!.
Redcar town centre, like many similar seaside and industrial towns is somewhat run down.
Nothing.
The lead on the hot water jug was too short and I had to move a chest of draws to fill my cup.
I did complain about this and was told it would be fixed. However it was not written down so I wonder?
I have no other complaints.
nothing.
Limited on site parking at rear of Hotel (but mitigated by on street parking nearby).
There is no lift so the top floor is difficult if you hadn't taken it into account as was the case with me, this was not their fault, it was mine. The shower facility was difficult to operate as there were no instructions, although we did manage it in the end.
nothing to dislike.
we was on the ground flour which was good but our stay would have been better if the outside step was wheelchair/ scooter friendly as the hotel is at the far end of town and my wife has walking problems having said that I have no doubt the friendly staff would have lifted a scooter etc in the hotel but not same has been independent.
Hotel was great. Unfortunately the wind farm and new 'Tower' do nothing to enhance Redcar as a place.
Shower very weak, water supply very slow. Broken toilet seat. No Bath mats so carpets got wet. Not good breakfast on 1st morning. Double room was booked & the one offered had a three quarter bed this was not acceptable but we were offered a twin room which we accepted.
Nothing.
creaking floorboards in the room, and the neighbours who came in at 2am singing and laughing loudly. (but this wasnt really the hotels fault just some rather inconsiderate clients ).
Not many parking spaces.
limited parking - as there was a function on, we had to park away from hotel. paying customers should take priority, not many places to park as all double yellow lined with wardens on patrol.
the shower / toilet spaces are rather small / cramped - but I would sooner have a small shower space rather than a communal shower - which is maybe a limitation in the building size.
I can't say I particularly dislike anything about the hotel.
the stairs.
nothing.
The pokey bathroom - actually a converted closet we think.
No window in the bathroom just a rattly extractor fan that woke partner up when you went to the loo at night.
The right hand side top window of the picture window in the room NOT closing. 30 knot winds and temperature of 9 degrees celsius - not comfortable when you can't close the window. Also, left hand side picture window leaks when it rains.
leaky shower which wet the carpet, but this was reported and staff were unaware of it and apologies given.
Bathroom was very small and limited facilites and you do need to ensure you have all your toiletteries with you as none provided.
Nothing!.
Idid not like the fact that some guests had dogs in the rooms ,to me that is unhygenic ,my wife is a registered asmatic and dogs dont help especially wet ones.
creaky floor boards.
Nothing.
nothing.
The car park is quite a walk to the door
Small rooms (although they were not bad for the price, some more space would be nice.
parking ticket for parking in front of hotel,my own fault as i did not read the sign properly, spaces provided at rear, a warning sign at reception would be helpfull.
I did not like the cleanliness of the bed as I found hair of other people on the bed when I remove the top linen.
I was wondering if the linen was changed.
old decor, very dated but this is reflected in the price.
